With at least 18 months workplace experience you’ll possess a proven history of working with Solidworks, Photoshop plus general technical skills. Experience of working with similar product types and an understanding of the basic principles of manufacture in various metals, glass and ceramics would be a distinct advantage. You will need to be able to reverse engineer from existing products and produce workable and accurate 3D CAD models as well as 2D technical production drawings.

Operating from a modern comprehensively equipped factory, the Company’s passion for design and engineering coupled with an unwavering adherence to the principles of design for manufacture, have helped them to achieve an impressive unbroken sales growth.

They are now looking for a talented designer who can help design / engineer new furniture systems and provide project specific technical support to the sales team. The successful candidate should be passionate about design / engineering, have a thorough understanding of how things are made and a practical hands on approach.

A working knowledge of any or all of the following would be a distinct advantage but not essential:- Office furniture design, tubular and sheet steel fabrications, extruded aluminium profiles, plastic injection moulding, woodworking, upholstery, bills of materials and costings together with the generation of sales literature and technical brochures.

Commercially focused, the ideal candidate will hold a minimum 2:2 (or equivalent) in a relevant degree and be a confident Solidworks, Excel and Word user. You’ll need to be a good communicator both verbally and via hand drawn sketches, have good listening skills and be able to manage your work load to achieve deadlines. A full UK/EU driving licence will also be needed as well as a god sense of humour.

They are currently seeking a product designer who is technically minded to work on POS items, drawing amends and more complicated ‘full units’. They are looking for an individual who is passionate, ambitious and keen to create and develop creative solutions for retail shop fit manufacture. The role will also include visiting client sites; creating comprehensive CAD models, assembly drawings and instructions; creating simple renderings to accompany drawing packs and BOMs.

You should have a technical background within the shopfitting industry familiar with metal, wood, acrylic and solid surface fabrication and finishing. With a minimum of 5 years’ industrial experience you can hit the ground running and will need to be fluent in both AutoCAD and Solidworks / Inventor packages. The successful candidate will be well organised, have a good eye for detail and excellent communication skills.
