Estimator - Norfolk - up to £42,000 (V03563)

This leading British manufacturer of beautiful bespoke furniture, cabinetry and specialist joinery work with prominent private, professional and commercial clients worldwide. Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques.

Experienced in all aspects of joinery manufacture and installation, they are seeking an Estimator to take responsibility for preparing estimates and quotes to meet Company and Client objectives of specification, quality, cost and timescale within approved processes, policies and procedures.

This will include:

  • Developing estimates and quotes against client specification / requirements
  • Utilising and developing the pricing database / IT tools
  • Obtaining external quotes for Outworks and negotiating where possible
  • Managing the risk involved in a project through tight specification and recorded discussions with the client
  • Organising an effective handover and introducing the client to the Project Team
  • Managing control of variations / additions as the contract dictates
  • Documenting the estimating process and looking for continuous improvement in procedures
  • Providing a Cost Analysis of completed projects and utilising learnings

Person / Experience Required:

  • Experience in a wood based environment would be preferable such as joinery, shopfitting or interiors
  • Commercially aware
  • Able to maintain effective working relationships with both Clients and Colleagues
  • Able to control costs and make efficient use of resources
  • Experience of managing information and data
  • Able to present and communicate appropriately to clients and colleagues

Experienced in all aspects of joinery manufacture and installation, they work closely with main contractors, designers and architects on both classical and contemporary interiors including dressing rooms, staircases and libraries, cinemas, wine rooms and games rooms.

Ever busy, they are currently seeking a Project Manager to manage and maintain programmes to meet both Company and Client objectives. As well as running these projects and being responsible for their team's performance and output the Project Managers also assist in the bidding / winning process in order to maximise their commercial advantage.

Person / Experience Required:

  • An established project management background within the cabinet making / furniture / interior design industry
  • The ability to manage and lead intern members of a project team
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of financials around projects
  • Able to demonstrate a clear understanding of AutoCAD to read and amend drawings for manufacture
  • An understanding of basic revenue models and P/L forecasts
  • Able to manage Client interfaces and maintain effective working relationships
  • Experience of making efficient use of resources and controlling costs

This British design house and manufacturer of upholstered furniture for national high street retailers are about to launch their corporate and hospitality offering for designers and contract specifiers. This will be the main driver towards the next phase of the company's growth.

To help achieve this, they are looking for an Operations Manager to join their skilled team to run the production facility.

They are looking for someone who has previously had the experience of leading the change from a workshop environment to a professional manufacturing and QC house, with the people, team and culture at the heart of process. You will be initiating and driving lean management and change culture through empowerment of the team and building a new way of working. Experience in upholstery is not a prerequisite, although passion, determination, integrity and a good nature is!

Person / Experience Required:

  • Relevant qualifications, ideally in Business Administration
  • Experience of working in a workshop environment
  • An engineering background would be advantageous
  • Strong leadership and management skills
  • Systematic organised approach
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • An ideas person with creative flair would be beneficial

This ambitious company is growing to meet the worldwide demand for its luxury furniture. With state of the art in-house production facilities and a creative and technical studio they are seeking to fill two roles:

1. Furniture Design Engineer
The successful candidate will take inspiring design concepts and using CAD software turn the designs into a set of engineering drawings for in-house manufacture including CNC, laser work, hand making, leatherwork and finishing as well as outsourced parts made by external sub-contractors.  

2. Project Manager
The successful candidate will manage the engineers within the team and oversee project management and delivery of a projects from concept design to handover of iconic yacht and residential projects worldwide.

Person / Experience Required:

Furniture Design Engineer

  • At least 5 years' bespoke furniture design and construction at a luxury level
  • Fluency in both 2D and 3D CAD software with Rhino being an advantage
  • Ability to work to budgets for completion of engineering drawings
  • Ability to travel and be competent at taking on-site measurements.

Project Manager

  • Ability to manage furniture projects to a value in excess of  £1m from design concept through to client handover
  • Ability to plan and schedule with your team to exceed client's expectations
  • At least 5 years' bespoke furniture making and construction at a luxury level
  • Proven experience of 2D CAD software skills with 3D Rhino an advantage
  • Excellent leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and travel worldwide outside normal working hours when required

The company offers:

  • Salary of £30k-£38k for the Design Engineers
  • Salary of £38k-£52k for the Project Managers
  • Share of discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance
