A Design and Projects Manager is sought by this designer and manufacturer of seating for auditorium and concourse venues. They offer a wide range of market focused and design-led products delivering prestigious projects both in the UK and overseas.

This role involves the day-to-day management of departmental issues; delivering project design proposals; managing the production of prototypes and samples; project managing the expectations of each job and leading the design and project team.

The successful candidate will need to have a high degree of capability in design (preferably in a furniture related area), project management and customer liaison.

Other requirements are:

  • Degree in Mechanical / Industrial / Product Design with a strong technical bias and experience in building interior products / furniture.
  • Qualification or extensive experience in Project Management.
  • 5 years' experience of successfully managing a design team and delivering complex projects.
  • Strong knowledge to industry standard of 2D and 3D CAD; preferably SolidWorks and AutoCAD and the ability to present design proposals.

Trainee Project Manager - Curtains and Soft Furnishings - London - up to £25,000 (V03449)

This company creates beautifully designed handmade curtains, blinds and accessories working with interior designers, private clients and property developers.

With a very heavy workload and plenty of new orders coming in they are looking to employ a trainee Project Manager with a background and genuine interest in interior furnishings. They are also interested in talking to people who have a proven track record of Project Management.

To begin with (unless you come in at a more experienced level) you will sit with a Project Manager and learn the following, working on smaller jobs initially before moving up to larger jobs:

  • Training to use their in house Curtain / Blind Quoting System
  • Sending out estimates
  • Liaising with Customers on fabric choices and finishes
  • Attending site meetings for more complicated jobs
  • Writing worksheets for the makers
  • Going out and meeting potential customers (after knowledge has been built up)
  • Ordering fabrics, hanging systems from suppliers using their in-house ordering system
  • Communicating with fitters

Person / Experience Required:

  • A good level of further education including a strong grasp of maths and a very good eye for detail
  • Must be able to multi-task and be comfortable with working on different projects at the same time
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Good communication skills are required as you will need to converse with the customer directly

This innovative and ground-breaking gallery showcases an eclectic mix of furniture, lighting and one-off decorative sculptures and seek a Project Coordinator to work in their own in-house design studio. 

Working with a variety of materials such as stainless steel, bronze, wood and plastic and finishes such as gilding you will be overseeing and managing high-quality bespoke furniture and interior products from their clients’ initial designs through to production. They are looking for someone who will grow with the company and who understands that every detail on every piece matters. Person / Experience Required

  • Excellent communication skills with fluency in English a must, knowledge of other European languages would be desirable
  • Computer literate with experience in 2D and 3D CAD (ideally Rhino and Adobe Creative Suite software)
  • The ability to interpret sketches and drawings
  • Good project management skills
  • Knowledge of manufacture and furniture construction
  • The ability to multitask and work with a variety of materials

This growing company manufactures luxury contemporary lighting for a loyal base of interior designers and architectural practices world-wide. Production of the component parts takes place in small workshops around the UK which are then assembled to order at their Berkshire HQ. They are now seeking a Technical Manager to be responsible for the technical management of products, ensuring that all products meet legislative and quality requirements. This role would suit someone who is looking for the opportunity to build a career and grow with the company.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Ownership of Bill of Materials, Instructions, Product Technical Files and Specifications.
  • Responsible for managing change control process.
  • Responsible for delivering live product enhancement projects and dealing with any design or quality issues that arise.
  • Key involvement in new product development projects, supporting MD in product design.
  • Involvement in set up, installation, and (where necessary) break-down of exhibition stands, showroom displays, photography sets and showcase displays.
  • Responsible for in-house testing of products, liaise with third party test houses.

Person / Experience Required:

  • Have experience of working in a similar role in a relevant production environment.
  • Experience of the lighting industry and in particular BS EN 60598-1 an advantage but not essential.
  • Be very organised, consistent, and have excellent attention to detail. Confident, pro-active and able to work under pressure to tight deadlines.
  • Have excellent IT skills, be an expert user of MS Excel, Word, Outlook, Windows Explorer and CAD.
