Interior Designer - Leicestershire - up to £35,000 (V03511)

This practice offers an in-depth expertise in all aspects of new build designs and refurbishments. They have experience in most sectors including retail, restaurants, bar, health & leisure and commercial interiors and are able to combine core building trades with the fitting of bespoke equipment, counters, bars, display equipment, shop fronts and internal / external signage.

They are currently seeking an additional designer who will be working on commercial and retail projects from concept to completion.

Person / Experience Required:

  • CAD literate, preferably AutoCAD
  • Good project management skills
  • Minimum 5 years' experience in the retail design sector
  • Capable of producing detailed joinery manufacturing drawings
  • The ability to sketch and hand draw
  • A good understanding of materials, finishes and their uses
  • Able to work as part of a team or alone
  • Full UK driving licence

This ambitious company is growing to meet the worldwide demand for its luxury furniture. With state of the art in-house production facilities and a creative and technical studio they are seeking to fill two roles:

1. Furniture Design Engineer
The successful candidate will take inspiring design concepts and using CAD software turn the designs into a set of engineering drawings for in-house manufacture including CNC, laser work, hand making, leatherwork and finishing as well as outsourced parts made by external sub-contractors. Also preparing a bill of materials to be sourced and ordered by purchasing.

2. Project Manager
The successful candidate will manage the engineers within the team and oversee project management and delivery of a projects from concept design to handover of iconic yacht and residential projects worldwide.

Person / Experience Required:

Furniture Design Engineer

  • At least 5 years' bespoke furniture making and construction at a luxury level
  • Fluency in both 2D and 3D CAD software with Rhino being an advantage
  • Ability to work to budgets for completion of engineering drawings
  • Ability to travel and be competent at taking on-site measurements.

Project Manager

  • Ability to manage furniture projects to a value in excess of  £1m from design concept through to client handover
  • Ability to plan and schedule with your team to exceed client's expectations
  • At least 5 years' bespoke furniture making and construction at a luxury level
  • Proven experience of 2D CAD software skills with 3D Rhino an advantage
  • Excellent leadership, management, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work and travel worldwide outside normal working hours when required

The company offers:

  • Salary of £30k-£38k for the Design Engineers
  • Salary of £38k-£52k for the Project Managers
  • Share of discretionary bonus based on company and individual performance

Responsibilities Include:

  • Developing initial ideas and acquiring key information about potential projects

  • Producing comprehensive mood boards for presentation to clients
  • Responsibility for multiple projects from design through to installation and styling

Person / Experience Required:

  • Minimum 3 years' residential interior design experience
  • Experience in InDesign, Photoshop and CAD with SketchUp and EstiPC an advantage
  • Full, clean driving licence essential (and candidate must be over 25 years of age for vehicle insurance purposes)
  • An eye for design and colour, with good 3D and spatial awareness

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative, driven person who is happy to take on both the role of senior designer and managing the studio when the owner is away. 

Senior Designer Duties Include:

  • Meeting clients for an initial brief, preparing a design and quotation and presenting it in a professional manner
  • Following the project through from point of sale to aftersales service with support from administrative staff
  • Liaising with clients, architects and contractors on each project
  • Excellent numerical skills essential for preparing client invoices and managing supplier invoices to ensure the profit margins are maximised
  • Liaising with installation teams to book deliveries etc.
  • Researching and entering industry awards
  • Dealing with any journalist enquiries for feature articles. Forwarding images to journalists and putting them in touch with clients to arrange recce shots etc.


Studio Manager Duties Include:

  • Managing junior staff and delegating effectively
  • Being responsible for the everyday smooth running of the office


Person / Experience Required:

  • Experience with high-end kitchens, preferably to include Hacker
  • CAD literate with Fusion 2020 and Compusoft Winner would be an advantage
  • Experience with a quoting system (they use KBBConnect)
  • Proactive problem solver
  • Experience of supervising others
  • Professional attitude and excellent written skills required
  • Able to build relationships with clients

The role of the Production Engineer mainly focusses on the successful co-ordination and implementation of new products within their manufacturing facilities, whilst also offering support for existing products and processes. Person / Experience Required:

  • Previous engineering experience along with an understanding of engineering and New Product Development (NPD) implementation principles
  • Experience in wood machining, metal fabrication and fabrics or an assembly environment would be advantageous
  • Experience of managing projects from the design stage through to manufacture
  • Understanding of machine and production capabilities and how these influence outputs

A new role has now been created which requires an experienced designer who is creative with a strong design focus. Most of the projects will be for the Build to Rent sector, within large scale developments in London and throughout the UK. The chosen candidate will be responsible for managing their own projects from concept to installation, including dressing show apartments and communal spaces. This involves taking a client briefing document and translating this into a deliverable, costed and attractive design scheme that is presentable to the client.
