Job requirements:

This interior design practice works on luxury residential projects and their services also include architectural planning, project management, advice and assistance with the selection, sourcing and supply of furniture, soft furnishings and accessories.

They are now recruiting for an assistant architectural designer with responsibilities including:

  • Producing CAD plans, elevations and 3D drawings
  • Researching and sourcing products
  • Carrying out site surveys and taking measurements. This is usually done with two people, but occasionally may be carried out alone.
  • Assisting with project installations
  • Creating design/mood boards using PowerPoint
  • Liaising with suppliers, clients and contractors

The ideal candidate will:

  • Have good technical skills, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Photoshop
  • Strong CAD skills and the ideal candidate will own CAD software, Vectorworks experience would also be an advantage
  • At least 2 years' experience of working in the interior design industry
  • Be creative, friendly, patient and calm under pressure
  • Be numerate, accurate and highly organised
  • A full driving licence and own car

Description/Typical Responsibilities:

Skills Required:

  • Good knowledge and experience of Photoshop or similar

  • Experience (medium to expert) of all Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent administrative skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Well spoken, smart and professional appearance

Senior Product Designer roles - Bedfordshire - up to £47,000 (V03337)

This successful, growing business operates in the retail display, fixture, visual merchandising and mannequin markets. They are a fully international operation designing, sourcing and managing bespoke display projects and fixture roll-outs from concept sketch through to direct delivery.

As part of their ongoing growth they have two roles available:

1.   Technical Design Manager, with duties to include:

  • Management of the Design Team (Internal and External)
  • Working with the Creative Director to develop the design function, supporting, implementing and managing business critical tasks
  • Lead, motivate, communicate with, develop, appraise and performance manage staff
  • Implementation of new or updated design processes
  • Taking active involvement in the project estimating process
  • Developing concept sketches to support new business projects
  • Producing CAD drawings, specifications and BOMs for manufacture of prototypes and production roll-outs

2.   Senior Technical Designer , with duties to include:

Person / Experience Required:

Technical Design Manager

  • BSc/BA (Hons) in Product Design or Industrial Design
  • Experience of managing and/or developing a team of designers
  • 5+ years' experience of technical design within the fashion/retail display or shop fitting industry
  • Fluency in SolidWorks
  • Keen eye for detail and a reputation for innovation
  • Commercially aware in all aspects of the business
  • A good appreciation of the relevant manufacturing processes and materials.

Duties and Responsibilities include:

They have their main technical and design office in Hertfordshire and manufacturing plant in Derbyshire.

They are steadily growing and now seek a junior designer to assist in assembling the components for the designs on CAD (they use Inventor and AutoCAD).

Main duties include:

  • To assist in producing detailed 3D designs using Autodesk Inventor, in creation of a library of standard components
  • To assist in providing a fully co-ordinated Fabric / M&E design with associated cutting lists and drawings for the Design for Manufacture and the Assembly
  • Help create and publish standard Company detailed designs
  • To compile and maintain a components library in Vault for use by all designers

Person / Experience Required:

  • Experience from the construction or fit out industry
  • Able to produce manufacturing drawings
  • Autodesk Inventor experience or knowledge of this package
  • Experience of AutoCAD or other similar design packages
  • Knowledge of BIM would be an advantage
  • An insight in component library set ups (not a necessity but this may become part of the job role)

2. Full time Designer - Monday-Friday (no Saturdays required at present) to work alongside the director with developers on the contract side of the business. Salary will be £24,000 per annum + 10% GP commission on personal sales. Potential for OTE of £45,000 to £P50,000.

With over 25 years' of experience their reputation is built on personal recommendation and results. They have an in-house joinery facility and offer a completely bespoke service. It is for this division that they now seek an experienced draughtsperson, mainly for high-end interior retail fit outs. Although they will consider someone with a little less experience they are ideally looking for knowledge of joinery fabrications on retail projects.

The candidate should have several years of experience in creating manufacturing level drawings and cutting lists for complete bespoke items ranging from kitchens to jewellery showcases, to staircases, to reception desks, to bathroom cabinets. 


Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • To carry out site surveys and create new site setting out drawings based on site measures
  • Attend design meetings
  • To overlay all trades on the drawings to ensure there are no clashes
  • Create new drawings and cutting lists for joinery production
  • To create materials schedules and sketches for any special order items
  • Monitor the clients' drawings to identify any variations
  • To monitor factory production to ensure compliance to the drawings

Person / Experience Required:

  • Good strong technical skills with experience of producing joinery drawings, ideally on retail projects
  • AutoCAD knowledge in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to understand how a whole array of materials can work together including timber, glass, metal, stone, plastic
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to liaise with individuals within the company and external to the company
