Our client first started over 20 years ago in a farm workshop with a small team of very dedicated individuals. This small studio was where they designed, built and tested everything. Their current location is now a lot bigger and they work from the design right through to the delivery, every detail and material reflecting their commitment to quality, design and affordability. The recent launch of their new store in Yorkshire has seen it quickly become one of their leading locations. They have built an outstanding team and now seek a motivated, engaging and talented senior kitchen designer to take on the role of Head Designer.

Job Purpose:

As Head Designer you will be overseeing the design team, mentoring, developing and supporting all designers and administrators. You will also be creating the highest quality personal designs and managing these projects through to reality. Working closely with customers you will fulfil their design briefs for all areas of the home including but not limited to the kitchen.

Person / Experience Required:

  • At least 3 years' experience in a design role working out of a showroom within the home interior sector
  • Great organisation and leadership qualities
  • A passion for design and the brand
  • Excellent CAD skills and a qualification in design
  • An engaging and friendly personality
  • Strong presentation and communication skills
  • A calm and professional manner and ability to solve customer enquires

Working in the design team your role will include:

  • Communicating your designs in sketch form with factories and customers
  • Develop new lighting concepts that complement cutting edge trends
  • Generating presentation boards for customers, both by hand and by using Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Manage key account development, from briefing to quotation through to sample and pre-production critiques
  • Put together ranges from customer trend boards and style
  • Generate pattern work for shades

Person / Experience Required:

  • 1 - 2 years' experience in a product related industry
  • Educated to degree level with an aptitude for both 2D surface pattern and 3D shape
  • Have a good eye for colour, fabrics, pattern and an appreciation of textiles
  • CAD and Adobe Illustrator experience, whilst not essential, would be beneficial
  • You will have excellent organisational and effective communication skills, able to use your initiative
  • There will be some element of national and international travel within the role

Ashton House Design are inviting applications from experienced interior designers who are able to demonstrate knowledge of residential and commercial design. We are looking for a full-time candidate who can initially cover a maternity leave period and ably support the Directors of the company in running projects. If you possess a minimum of 4 years design experience and are able to project manage a scheme from conception to completion, we would be delighted to hear from you.

Detailed knowledge of EstiPC, strong IT skills to include the usual Microsoft Office suite and a knowledge of drawing packages would be a distinct advantage. You will need to hold a full U.K driving licence. An immediate start could be available to ensure continuity of our existing projects.
