Senior Furniture / Product Designer - North Yorkshire - up to £45,000 (V03364)

This sub-contract metal fabrication company specialises in the design and manufacture of systems office furniture products and upholstered office screens supplied to an extensive portfolio of blue chip end users around the world.They are now looking for a talented designer who can help design / engineer new furniture systems and provide project specific technical support to the sales team.

The successful candidate should be passionate about design/engineering, have a thorough understanding of how things are made and a practical hands on approach.

Person / Experience Required:

A working knowledge of any or all of the following would be a distinct advantage but not essential:- Office furniture design, tubular and sheet steel fabrications, extruded aluminium profiles, plastic injection moulding, woodworking, upholstery, bills of materials and costings together with the generation of sales literature and technical brochures.

The ideal candidate will:-
Hold a relevant degree qualification

  • At least 4 years' industry experience.
  • Be commercially focused.
  • Be a confident SolidWorks, Excel and Word user.
  • Be a confident communicator (both verbally and via hand drawn sketches) and have good listening skills.
  • Be able to manage their work load to achieve deadlines.
  • Hold a full EU driving licence.
  • Have a sense of humour!

Manufacturing Designer / Design Engineer - Derbyshire - up to £25,000 (V03362)

This leading innovator in the development and application of pre-engineered offsite manufactured solutions and structural modules, specialise in particular for washrooms and bathrooms including pods and fit out solutions for developers, clients, architects and contractors.

Their manufacturing plant is in Derbyshire and it is for this location that they are seeking an additional designer. Someone who has a manufacturing background that can adapt construction drawings into drawings to give to the shop floor for manufacture.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reading 3D/2D contract drawings alongside a Bill of Materials
  • Supplying the factory floor with manufacturing drawings / works alongside the specification
  • Liaisng with the Factory Manager / Factory Team regarding what the shop floor requires to carry out the works
  • Potentially liaising with suppliers regarding bespoke part design
  • Working amongst the shopfloor team to assist in troubleshooting

Person / Experience Required:

  • Autodesk Inventor knowledge, or other 3D design packages
  • An understanding of construction to aid the designer with what the guys on the shop floor require to manufacture the PODs
  • To be able to read Bill of Materials for the PODs and relate this back into a drawing / instruction for the shop floor
  • Knowledge of M&E would be beneficial but not essential

The Role:

The Kitchen Designer will consult with clients, designing kitchens, product sourcing, producing proposals and presentations, preparing service drawings and furniture orders, following the project until successful installation with the Project Manager. Person / Experience Required:
