Interior Designer - Hertfordshire - up to £40,000 (V04160)

Our client is one of the leading design practices within the hotel and hospitality marketplace supplying architectural interior design solutions for both new build and refurbishment projects.
 
They are currently seeking an Interior Designer with proven range of experience within the hospitality sector. Based in South Hertfordshire within easy access of London, you would be working for hotel groups and individual clients throughout the UK & Europe.
 
Your responsibilities will include creating design concepts, FF&E sourcing, technical drawings, sketching, rendering and putting together schemes in the format of mood and sample boards.Then working through to installation.
 
Skills and Experience needed from the Interior Designer:
  • At least 6 years' relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of fabric and upholstery, trends and suppliers
  • Able to take part in site surveys 
  • Adept at client presentations including various techniques such as CAD floor plans, elevations, digital renders as well as traditional mediums including, sample boards and sketching
  • Understanding of M&E drawings
  • Fully competent in AutoCAD and be able to produce a full range of construction packages
  • A working knowledge of 3D Studio, Photoshop and SketchUp would be desirable
 
This will initially be a 12-month contract with the potential to become permanent. Salary on offer is between £35k to £40k (negotiable) and the company all work remotely on Fridays.

Design Estimator - Leicestershire - negotiable (V04183)

Their designs combine responsibly sourced, high-quality materials and superb workmanship to ensure they endure for generations.

Their bespoke projects are borne from a consultative service offered to clients who wish to realise individual commissions that draw on their design expertise. As Design Estimator you will be part of the creative and design team, responsible for those individual projects to ensure smooth transition from concept to installation. You will also act as the first point of contact with the Sales Operations team, with the focus to provide design, quotations, pricing and technical support.


Duties and Responsibilities for the Design Estimator include:

  • Working to brief to identify and understand customer needs and maintaining the flow of the project information through to completion
  • Producing drawings for client approval and ensuring drawings are accurate for manufacture
  • Working with the Design Manager to create custom and bespoke considerations on new designs
  • Using SolidWorks and the CAD database to ensure all files are up to date
  • Providing technical support to colleagues


Skills and Experience needed for the Design Estimator role:

  • Minimum of 3 years' professional experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably lighting and/or furniture
  • SolidWorks proficiency
  • Adobe Suite, you will mainly be using lnDesign and Acrobat Pro
  • A technical and commercial understanding of furniture and lighting construction, materials and techniques for effective manufacture
  • Strong collaborative skills and be a confident and capable communicator
  • Able to work to deadlines with strong planning, prioritisation and time management skills
  • You should possess a keen eye for detail, with an appreciation for the highest quality craftsmanship and materials

  • Experience in Inventor would also be helpful
  • A working knowledge of traditional and contemporary construction processes

Product Prototype Developer / Model Maker - North East England - negotiable (V04178)

Our client is a well-established, family-owned UK independent manufacturer of products and furniture for the home. They have multiple brands, enabling them to appeal to a wide range of tastes with customers including, architects, designers, specifiers, retailers, hospitality, private and social housing providers and the end consumer.

They are currently looking for an experienced Product Prototype Developer / Model Maker with excellent joinery and carpentry skills and woodworking machine experience to make prototype models using Timber, MDF, Metal, Resin, Gel Coats, Casting / Tooling Resins and Fibre Glass.

The ideal candidate will work closely with the development department, mainly in product development, rather than mass production. The candidate will also have input into the final design of the product to help to ensure ease of manufacture.

Key Duties / Responsibilities:

  • You will work closely with the development department, working from technical drawings and resolving technical problems
  • To use your workshop skills to make prototype and production moulds
  • You will work closely with the design department to assist in the design of new products or modifications to existing designs, from detailed component design to full assembly
  • Communicate with Management / Directors to provide information on project status and expected completion dates
  • Liaise with other workshop staff and designers to carry out work
  • Continually seek to improve both personal and workshop capabilities


Skills and Experience needed for the Product Prototype Developer  / Model Maker:

  • Ability to use standard machine shop tools such as hand and portable power tools, within a workshop environment
  • Experience and understanding of resin casting process
  • Ideally experienced in rubber mould making and of painting 
  • Creativity, imagination and a willingness to adapt to different techniques and use of materials
  • Knowledge of Electronic Components, Timber & Metal Fabrication also useful
  • Good numeracy skills (calculating weights etc.)
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft products-to create guides for handover to production
  • Good communication skills, organised and a strong team player with a high standard of attention to detail

Our client specialises in Experiential Design, Production and Installation and are proud to count large brands and leading marketing agencies amongst their clients.

Their Production Team works both in the production workshop and onsite as directed by Workshop Manager. They are currently seeking an individual who can support in all aspects of production build, general workshop responsibilities and on-site work as required. This role also acts as an Assistant to the Workshop Manager.

This is a hands-on role with tasks which includes prop making, CAD drawing, carpentry, metalworking, spray painting, scenic finishes, paint management, general production build, CAD interpretation, CNC & Laser cutter operation, vinyling, installation crewing, lead carpenter, sanding, filling & finishing.

The role includes development of practical skills including scenic, LX, sound & electronics and working in line with the Company sustainability policy, ensuring minimising wastage and organising off cuts of production material for use on subsequent jobs. Health & Safety compliance is essential as is quality control for all projects.

This position is based on a 42.5 hour week with a salary of £28k to £35k dependent on experience and skill level plus BUPA Medical & EATP and Pension.

  • Ability to perform practical tasks in the workshop
  • Strong carpentry and construction skills, ideally to include set build and props
  • Knowledge of paint & materials for scenic painting
  • Able to communicate effectively including with subcontractors

You will be working from start to installation on a variety of projects. Typically, this will include, creating design concepts, putting together presentations, producing working drawings for tender, and visiting site dealing day to day with contractors and suppliers queries. You will be expected to visit sites which may involve the occasional overnight stays as they cover the whole of the UK.


Skills and Experience expected from the Interior Designer:

  • 4+ years’ creative commercial interior design experience ideally to include leisure
  • Able to demonstrate design flair and creative skills
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Able to produce high quality presentations for clients using Photoshop or other software packages

Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques. They are seeking a full time, experienced Design Engineer and also a Senior Draughtsperson. For both roles they are looking for individuals who are able to draw on their experience in the furniture and joinery industry to support and steer the design and technical phases of projects and to engineer work which is fit for manufacture, assembly and installation. The distinction between the roles being that the Draughtsperson will be mainly producing the technical drawings and the Design Engineer will be working with the draughting team to review and refine design intent and engineer for efficient manufacture.


Skills and Experience sought for the Furniture Design Engineer role:

  • Excellent design and communication skills in order to capably discuss and establish design principles from a client’s brief
  • A good working knowledge of furniture and joinery constructional methods, and manufacturing processes
