In today’s environment of social marketing, exhibitions and conferences form the cornerstone of many companies’ promotional plan. These are the places where awareness of a new product or service is raised, where lucrative business-to-business deals are struck, and where word-of-mouth starts to articulate. As such, the job of an exhibition designer forms a crucial role in the visibility and performance of many businesses, large and small.
Not all careers in exhibition design are alike. Among our clients, we have specialist firms who create bespoke exhibition and conference stands, spaces and stages, as well as corporate, charity, and non-profit organisations looking to acquire skilled exhibition designers for events, galleries, promotions conventions, and… well… exhibitions, of course.
While the position itself will determine the level of qualification and experience you will be expected to bring to the role, most employers will expect a trach record in the field of exhibition stand design or in exhibition space planning and exhibition hall design. Some of the skills you may be expected to demonstrate to a potential employer will include the production of technical working drawings, including 3D models and elevations, and animated walkthroughs. You should also have familiarity with design software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD / VectorWorks and the Adobe CS, athough some firms may have their own preferred software solutions.
Good communication skills are a must - as is the ability to work to very strict deadlines. Often exhibitions can spring up with little notice or changes are requested right up until the doors are almost open. It can be a high-pressure environment, but hugely rewarding.
Finding exhibition design jobs through our website is simple: use the drop-down filters above to find the job you want in your location.
