Exhibition Organiser - Essex - up to £30,000 (V03698)

This company is one of the UK's premier designers and producers of contemporary domestic and hotel lighting. With a reputation for innovative designs, high quality manufacture and reliable performance, they have invested heavily in recent years and are based in Essex, near the Hertfordshire borders.

They are currently seeking an individual for a 12 month maternity cover contract to organise their exhibitions, on average about 20-25 per year (varying in size). They have a Junior Exhibition Designer who is responsible for designing the exhibitions, so they are looking for someone to cover the organisational element although if this person has good design and CAD experience then these skills can be utilised within the role.

The role will be varied and can include other aspects dependent on your strengths but will include coordinating the physical exhibition stand, liaising with their factories in China, liaising with marketing team to ensure all documentation is completed and organising graphics and vinyls required.

Person sought:

  • Experience in exhibition design or similar
  • Strong organisational skills
  • CAD skills, knowledge of SolidWorks would be great (you would then also be able to help design retail showroom boards)
  • Working knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite (workload dependent, you may be required to support the graphics team with artwork, data sheets etc.)

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a unique, design led luxury interiors brand. The Company has its roots in designing and curating collections of furniture and accessories that showcase the finest in British design and craftsmanship.

This role requires the person to manage multiple projects from the pricing stage through to completion, ensuring that profitability and program is maintained and that the product fits the brief. It involves a high level of organizational skills, liaising with the workshop, sourcing of external suppliers and a good eye for detail whilst demonstrating a strong level of commercial awareness.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and understanding technical construction drawings and product specifications
  • Attending internal, supplier and client meetings
  • The breakdown of projects into components, producing costing / budgets and formulating project timelines
  • Producing / coordinating tender packages for pricing
  • Reviewing quotes from multiple suppliers and comparing costs
  • Reviewing and signing off supplier / manufacturer drawings and specifications
  • Visiting workshops and clients properties to manage and review construction

Person / Experience Required:

  • AutoCAD (2D) and Microsoft Office including Word, Excel
  • Strong organisational skills and experience of handling suppliers
  • Experience working with workshops and the construction of furniture, in particular fitted
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of financials
  • Self-starting and proactive

Based centrally in London, they are recruiting for a highly ambitious and motivated Production Co-Ordinator to join the studio's Design and Production Team. The company is all about quality, luxury and high-end design so experience of such an environment is desirable.

The successful candidate will assist with the production and development of furniture, including the design, developing designs from sketches to presentation renderings and models. There will also be the requirement to assist with the daily running of the department, updating information listed on the database, organising drawings and information.

This theatrical design and production company operates out of a 14,000 sq. ft. workshop near the Essex / Hertfordshire borders, producing work for high profile brands and events. Their work includes sets and props for events, product launches, exhibitions, sampling campaigns and experiential marketing projects such as a 5m high giant lipstick, a billboard sized chocolate bar and a UK tour of experiential mud huts for a leading charity.

They are seeking a Production Manager to ensure that all their projects are delivered as designed on time and on budget and to enable production to improve and increase capacity through more efficient production processes.

This is a pivotal hands-on role managing a hardworking and committed production team. You will be responsible for the full end-to-end production for all projects - taking the lead on production and project management from brief through to delivery and working effectively with the client, production team and sub-contractors on a daily basis.

Person / Experience Required:

Candidates would ideally come from a proven theatrical or exhibition background and have experience in production management of a broad range of sets, props and modular units, from conception through to execution. Working with an adaptable, flexible, accommodating attitude is a must and understanding the ever-changing demands of high-end brands is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in exacting manufacturing projects
  • Experience in supervising and motivating a team of workers
  • Good computer skills around MS office, AutoCAD skills an advantage but not essential
  • Experienced in the planning and executing of projects based around strict budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to deliver reports on scheduling and costs
  • Monitoring of product standards and implementation of quality-control programmes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Driving and fork lift licence would be helpful but not essential

Two exciting roles have been created to work with the directors and team as well as internationally renowned artists. They are looking for an experienced, team player, with an exceptional eye and attention to detail.

This person will need to understand what is required to work at the top end of the luxury sector, is forward thinking and able to spot any potential problems or delays before they occur. They work with clients who demand the highest quality and specification and the closely knit team are all experts in each of their various fields, passionate about their work.

They are looking for candidates who have the following skills:

  • Strong administration skills and experience with a CRM database
  • Being able to coordinate POs, shipping, etc. working with the project managers
  • Ability to multitask and stay calm under-pressure
  • High attention to detail, dimensions, finishes
  • Good communication skills internal and external (using specialist and non-specialist language)
  • Able to work with multiple members in team across different manufacturers and projects
  • Languages (preferred but not essential): French, Italian
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes (including but not limited to, fabrication, casting, moulding GRP, engineering processes, upholstery, as well as traditional woodworking techniques)
  • Experience gained from the furniture sector

This family-run business produce and deliver a diverse range of sets and props for events, product launches, exhibitions, sampling campaigns and experiential marketing projects with high levels of customer service and quality finishes. Their in-house services include event design and production, project management, spray finishing, sewing and costume, operations, logistics and storage. They also love dogs and have a special dog crèche on site.

As the Workshop Manager you will be responsible for the full end-to-end production build for all projects - taking the lead on production builds from brief through to delivery.

Objectives and Requirements:

  • Maintain and organise the workshop space, woodstore, outside yard and storage containers
  • Man management experience will be needed in order to oversee the team in the workshop along with a sub contract production team which can vary in size from 1 to 20, depending on each project
  • A theatrical or exhibition background would be useful as you will need knowledge of production for a broad range of sets, props, joinery and modular units
  • A friendly, respectful and accommodating personality will suit the culture of this company
  • As this is working with the ever-changing needs of brands you will often be working under pressure to tight deadlines
  • Experience with software including AutoCAD / SketchUp would be an added benefit
  • Qualifications or experience in health and safety compliance and buildings maintenance would also be an added benefit but is not essential
