Our client is an international furniture company that work with private clients, architects, developers and interior designers to reflect a particular lifestyle through an extensive choice of furniture including wardrobes, library systems, kitchen and furniture for the whole home. 

They are currently seeking an experienced Kitchen Designer to work with both trade and private individuals, upholding the Company’s commitment to excellence of product and service.

Main Duties of the Kitchen Designer:

  • To meet Clients in the Showroom both casual callers and by previous appointment, to explain and demonstrate the features and options in Kitchen and Furniture ranges
  • To visit the Client’s premises as necessary
  • To prepare design plans, rendered drawings & price quotations and present to the Client
  • Preparing drawings, plans and elevations/renders for the wardrobe and kitchen team
  • Uploading data and managing project on client databases
  • To follow up all quotations in a timely manner and to close the sale
  • To maintain overall responsibility of all projects and to maintain contact with the Client until each project is completed
  • To actively share and offer guidance to more junior members of the team and assist in their training in the Department  

Skills and experience needed from the Kitchen Designer:

  • At least 5 years’ experience from the kitchen industry
  • Experience working with both trade and retail Clients
  • Strong design and sales skills
  • Good project management, administration and communication skills
  • Experience in AutoCAD and/or VectorWorks
  • PC literate - Word/ Excel

Under the line management of the Workshop Manager, the role of Draughtsperson and Assistant Workshop Manager is to deliver construction drawings for Production and acting as deputy to the Workshop Manager in performing day-to-day duties in the workshop, which could extend to a hands-on role in construction and onsite working as part of the crew.
 
Based in the production workshop, daily tasks include technical construction drawings, health & safety compliance, asset & storage management, organising & maintenance of tools, equipment, supplies & working areas. As required, the role extends to assisting with production construction to include, sanding, filling and spray finishing. It will also involve on-site work and driving.

THE ROLE

We are looking for a creative, highly organised individual to be responsible for designing and managing a number of concurrently running manufacturing projects from the enquiry stage, right through to completion, as well as managing project costs, estimates, client communication and bespoke drawings. 

MAIN FUNCTION OF THE ROLE

  • As a Designer you will be designing and managing manufacturing projects from enquiry stage through to completion. This will involve being the main point of contact for the client / production team and occasionally sub-contractors. You will be responsible for the issue of project programme information to all parties
  • The Design element to the role is key. You will be creating client drawings for bespoke lighting, hardware, and furniture projects, working to tight deadlines. Good time management is important as you will need to juggle multiple tasks and projects
  • You will also be responsible for monitoring project costs. You may also be required to estimate costings for bespoke enquiries, working with the Design Coordinator to agree when a costing / estimate should be expected and to ensure that the information provided in estimates and sales orders is accurate 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

  • Creation of client and production drawings using SolidWorks CAD software
  • Working closely with the Production Engineering Manager and production staff to ensure that the design uses the most appropriate materials / finishes and production processes, whilst also meeting the client’s expectations and project budget
  • Liaising with the workshop and subcontractors to arrange material samples for the client’s approval
  • Project research and development should be recorded to allow R&D reports to be created. It may be necessary for Designers to attend R&D meetings to discuss projects
  • Project Management
  • Maintaining a consistent approach with the communication between the design team and the production team
  • Monitoring project costs
  • Work closely with the Dispatch Manager to schedule the delivery / shipping of bespoke projects 

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE

  • Proven relevant experience
  • Accomplished SolidWorks user
  • Experience in project managing bespoke design projects
  • Client-facing experience with high-end clientele
  • Experience working with suppliers and subcontractors
  • Comfortable monitoring project costs and schedules

This role will be WFH but you should be based in Yorkshire close enough to travel regularly into Harrogate.

Your work will involve:

  • Using AutoCAD for technical drawings and design work
  • Facilitating the development of sign-off, setting out, procurement and production of furniture, including cabinetry, metal elements, stone elements and other custom materials and features
  • Mechanical and electrical drawings and installation drawings to aid site trades
  • Liaising with the design team and project managers
