An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Project Manager to join a unique, design-led luxury interiors brand. The Company has its roots in designing and curating collections of furniture and accessories that showcase the finest in British design and craftsmanship.

As a Project Manager you will be managing both bespoke and fitted projects from initial client meetings through design and manufacture to final installation or delivery. You will be working closely with the Sales, Design and Workshop teams.

Main areas of involvement for the Project Manager will be:

  • Advising Sales & Design
  • Costing & Budget control
  • Manufacture
  • Quality Control
  • Site Management
  • Weekly Team Meetings


Skills and experience needed for the Project Manager:

  • Furniture making / design / project management experience
  • Commercial awareness and knowledge of financials
  • Competency with all basic Microsoft programs
  • Able to read and understand Technical Drawings (AutoCAD knowledge would be useful but not essential)
  • Have a full UK driving licence

Deputy Workshop Manager - Props & Furniture - London - up to £35,000 (V03946)

This busy company supplies furniture, props and accessories to the film and television industry covering many eras - from Medieval through to the 1980's. Their showroom is within easy access of all the major London film studios and they have created a new role of Deputy Workshop Manager.
 
Your role will be to assist the Workshop Manager in leading and managing their friendly in-house workshop team, along with maintaining and repairing the vast stock of antique furniture and accessories. Additionally, due to industry demand, they anticipate expanding this department to incorporate model making so any previous model making experience would be beneficial.
 
The successful applicant will need knowledge of a broad range of construction techniques and materials, as well as excellent woodworking skills and an interest in furniture restoration. You will also be working in conjunction with the Loss & Damage Coordinator to calculate repair costings which will be passed on to their clients.
 
Skills and experience needed for the Deputy Workshop Manager:
 
  • At least two years’ experience in theatre, set or scenic construction
  • Experience in managing budgets, purchasing and negotiating with suppliers
  • Strong communication skills
  • Initiative to work alone with minimum supervision
  • Positive and flexible approach to problem-solving with attention to detail
  • Computer literate
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Knowledge of upholstery and traditional French polishing would be an advantage
  • Qualifications or studies in electrical installation would also be an advantage
 
In return the Deputy Workshop Manager role has a salary of between £30k to £35k and plenty of training and career progression as the company is expanding both in size and the services it offers.

The Scenic Manager remit is to:
  • Be responsible for checking artwork from clients ahead of sending to print, creating cutter guides and checking print deliveries as soon as possible and highlighting errors
  • Uphold sustainable working practices including recycling of materials
  • Be responsible for technical processes, meeting production timelines and providing WIP photos for clients
  • Create production images for the website and social media content stories and posts 
  • Check quality control and be responsible for stock control of scenic materials 
 
The Scenic Manager skills and experience required:
  • Good computer skills around MS Office 
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal 
  • Experienced in the planning and executing of projects based around strict budgets and deadlines 
  • Ability to deliver reports on scheduling and costs 
  • Able to monitor product standards and implement a quality-control programme 
  • Able to read drawings and create / read artwork files 
  • Ideally have come from an event, theatrical or exhibition background and have a broad range of production knowledge from conception through to execution. 
  • Enthusiastic, self-motivated, positive and a team player 
  • Have practical skills such as painting, basic carpentry and sewing

They are currently looking for a Technical Production Assistant to support the Production Team. You will be creating CAD drawings, art working, proposals, pitch work and design costing. You will also be project managing smaller projects from brief through to delivery, ensuring successful realisation of projects adopting a hands-on approach to working in the production workshop.
 
Other duties for the Technical Production Assistant include:
  • Design interpretation, creating mood boards if required and basic visualisations
  • Performing practical tasks in the workshop such as prop making, finishing, vinyling, painting, sewing and basic carpentry
  • Creating CNC files and supervising CNC machining when required 
  • Assisting with the creation of content for social media posts and stories 
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new subcontractors, updating availability / task sheets and bookings

Skills and experience needed for the Technical Production Assistant:
  • Experience of using a CAD software package, CNC and Adobe Illustrator

Skills and experienced needed for the role of Furniture Designer:

Our client is a prestigious design studio who count many serious art collectors as their clients. Their experience covers both historical and contemporary interiors, bespoke furniture, lighting and pieces of artwork celebrating artisan crafts using the finest materials from around the World.

Rapidly growing with an extensive waiting list of clients this vibrant studio are currently seeking a creative Furniture Designer to join their team. This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for a skilled and experienced designer to demonstrate their knowledge and passion for design, their innovative thinking, ready to take their career to the next level.

They use such materials as cast bronze, shagreen (mainly faux), gold leaf, leathers and high quality bespoke fabrics so this would suit a designer who likes a challenge and confident in creating designs that are often complex and detail driven.

Skills and Experience Required for the Furniture Designer:

  • Degree or equivalent in Furniture Design
  • 4+ years' of experience working as a furniture designer to include luxury residential
  • Experience working on all stages of a project from conception to completion
  • Strong conceptual and hand-drawing skills
  • Experience with a 3D CAD rendering package
  • MS Office proficient (word, excel and outlook)
  • Administration and time management skills
