They are open to the role being either part-time or full-time.
The Role
Based in the office and working closely with the Workshop Manager and Project Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings for client approval and workshop production, ensuring every detail is translated into exceptional finished pieces. A full driving licence and access to a car will be needed as the offices and workshop are not easily accessible via public transport

To successfully apply for a position as a furniture designer, you will be expected to demonstrate your creative skills, your technical ability, and your commercial awareness of this sector.
Most furniture designer posts require you to produce designs and manufacturing drawings for either fitted furniture and joinery or freestanding pieces of furniture. It will be expected that you can work to a brief, whilst retaining your own creative mark. You should be able to sketch out ideas for initial brainstorming sessions, as well as produce more technical design work, often utilising CAD software.
While some firms will be looking for designs that have broad appeal for a mass market, others will be creating more bespoke or limited edition pieces to be produced in small batches. Whichever end of the scale your position falls, you must show that you understand the commercial aspects of your market.
Some positions require only your design skills, where others might involve your skills as a craftsperson, producing the items, as well as designing them.
You may be working solo, or you may be part of a team, either of other furniture designers, or designers in other disciplines such as interiors, kitchens or architecture. In these positions, you are expected to show flexibility and teamwork, as your design must become part of a cohesive range.
