This creative studio works with some of the most exciting luxury brands and is seeking a Designer / Creative Manager to join their close-knit team.

They design, build and deliver bespoke retail experiences and roll out across in-store installs, window designs, pop-ups and events. They have a relaxed, busy but fun studio atmosphere where it is all collaborative.

The role will be to:

  • Develop creative proposals, pushing the boundaries in line with the company's ethos
  • Communicate and generate ideas through quick hand sketches then following this process through to 2D and 3D visions
  • Create technical plans, package and artworks ready for production
  • Deliver high quality visualisations for presentation to the clients
  • Budget and time track Client Briefs and manage Freelance Designers
  • Liaise directly with clients to receive initial briefs and feedback from submitted proposals

Person / Experience Required:

  • Fully proficient in 3D software and rendering software
  • Fluent in Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign
  • Experience working on a variety of design projects for luxury brands including retail and visual merchandising
  • Commercially aware, being up to date with current trends and keeping an eye on the design industry
  • An understanding of the retail luxury field and able to develop commercially driven concepts
  • A high level of organisation and the ability to multitask whilst working to tight deadlines
  • Positive and can-do attitude

This interior design consultancy handles high-end residential, hospitality and commercial projects delivering exceptional Interior Design and procurement solutions to an international client base. From royal palaces to modern city centre apartments, from luxurious spas to international airports, they have a strong and diverse portfolio of projects.

With more projects in the pipeline, they are currently seeking to strengthen their FF&E team by bringing on board two additional designers at ideally a mid-weight level although they would also consider juniors.

You will be specialising in the design, specification and delivery of all items FF&E on assigned projects. This will include collating artwork and accessories, ordering samples and handling fabric suppliers, putting together mood and presentation boards, listing and specifying, data entry, administration and supporting the team. There may be travel involved at installation stage, particularly for the more experienced candidates, dealing with contractors and styling the projects.


Person / Experience Required:

  • Post-grad from an Arts / Design background (textile / interior design / fashion / arts degree)
  • Ideally 4 to 6 years industry experience
  • Juniors will need to be degree educated with some industry experience and a genuine interest in art and fabric companies

SMC Design are looking for a BIM Coordinator to manage the BIM delivery process, cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team working under our in house BIM Manager. Externally a BIM Coordinator (MEP) is expected to work closely with external organisations (including architects and engineers) within a project team and with our clients through all stages of our relationship with them.

As an expert BIM / Revit user you will produce accurate Revit models with reliable BIM data according to the relevant company BIM documentation. You will also review 3D Models from consultants and contractors.

You will be responsible for:

  • Content production and development, in line with the company BIM protocols
  • Daily model management, administration and maintenance ensuring the health of BIM models and databases
  • Collaborating with and coordinating subcontractors and consultants, receiving and managing multiple subcontractor models
  • Adhering to the BIM execution plan and BIM project workflow criteria
  • Integrating Models and producing clash detection reports and managing clash detection meetings on site with the project teams


Requirements:

  • Proven recent hands-on experience of BIM implementation in a similar role
  • Proficient in the set up and coordination of 3D BIM models
  • Understanding of Level 2 BIM and BS/PAS 1192 suite of documents / UK BIM requirements
  • Proficient in using Revit, AutoCAD and other Autodesk products
  • Experience of Model Authoring
  • Familiar with 4D Scheduling / Simulation using simulation software (Navisworks, BIM 360 Glue and Enscape)

Senior FF&E Designer (Client Advert) - London - negotiable (V03708)

A permanent position has arisen at SMC Design to take ownership of the senior FF&E responsibilities on a variety of projects. For this role it is crucial that the candidate is competent working with minimal over-seeing, producing a high quality of work.

This role is now available due to continued success and we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised FF&E Designer to work on high-end marine interior design projects, liaising with suppliers and working to a client's needs and aspirations. Project involvement is from conception through to completion and the candidate will join projects at a variety of stages along the way to perform this dynamic and fast-paced role.

Experience in delivering FF&E packages for large-scale commercial projects (e.g. hotels/cruise ships) is essential, as well as impeccable organisational, research and communication skills.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Excel, and confidence in using an Apple Mac computer. Familiarity with navigating VectorWorks is a bonus but not essential.
  • An extensive understanding of finishes, furniture and lighting, with a fantastic eye for the finer details.
  • Experience completing specifications to a high standard of clarity.
  • An ability to interpret a brief and design schemes for a wide variety of clients tastes, brand identities or requirements.
  • An ability to research for and create strong mood boards.
  • An ability to create sample boards for client presentations.
  • An understanding of controlling budgets, as well as an enjoyment of problem solving and fulfilling proposed concepts within budget.
  • An ability to work as part of a larger team, but also independently on projects where required.
  • An ability to hit the ground running and be self-motivated, supported by their previous experience taking ownership of the FF&E on projects.
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, for succinctly communicating concepts and information to a variety of people involved in the project such as in-house / external 3D visual artists, clients and contractors. Strong English is essential.


A positive attitude towards mucking in will be expected, as the FF&E team all help out with keeping the library and layout area tidy and functioning! It is also essential that the candidate is able to travel (often at short notice) to locations within the UK and abroad. 8 to 10 years' experience is sought and in return a competitive salary will be offered, negotiable depending on experience.
