They are currently seeking Technical Designers in both their London and Wiltshire showrooms. The individual will be using their design and technical skills to work alongside the sales designers in the showroom, supporting and providing a valuable resource to aid the sale and both meet and exceed the customers' expectations.

Person / Experience Required:

  • Strong CAD and technical drawing skills to work alongside the Sales Designers
  • Experience within the residential interior design sector to include fitted furniture and preferably kitchens
  • A professional and responsive personality, warm, confident and motivated
  • Diplomacy, decisiveness and hard work is rewarded in this people orientated business

Salary on offer is £22k rising to £24k after the 6 month probationary period plus a company bonus (OTE c£32k).

Kitchen Designer - London - up to £35,000 (V03647)

This leading artisan in professional home kitchens create handcrafted pieces in their renowned sleek industrial style. With an opulent look, each cabinet and metalwork detail is crafted with an eye for beauty in Italy and they are currently seeking an individual to join their small and growing team based in their London Showroom.

This role would suit a designer who has an architectural mind and who can advise on the design and layout of large kitchens including any structural changes. It will be an organisational and client facing role so your presence, communication skills and commercial head will be important. You will be arranging client visits to the showroom, talking through their project along with the technical designer, scheduling the works and seeing through to installation. There will be regular travel to clients and trade shows and an initial visit to the Head Office in Italy for training.

Person / Experience Required:

  • 4+ years' experience on residential projects or from the kitchen sector
  • AutoCAD literacy and Photoshop would be an advantage but not necessity

  • Meeting the customers and discussing their needs in order to create a design brief
  • Working with and supporting colleagues in store, and from the installation team, to provide a consistent and exceptional customer journey
  • Producing designs and the kitchen presentation pack to brand standards using Autokitchen
  • Conducting surveys
  • Administering and managing customer projects including accurate payments and information

Person / Experience Required:

  • Visit suppliers as required to assess new products and gain information

Person / Experience Required:

  • Design degree or equivalent
  • Proven experience as a successful product designer in the kitchen / furniture industry
  • PC literate and able to use Inventor (3D) or similar
  • Proven creativity and flair - able to produce evidence of own design work
  • Commercially aware and numerate
  • Confident in dealing with people at all levels in the business
  • Able to design and confidently deliver presentations
  • Full Driving licence without excessive points

Person / Experience Required:

  • Fluency in AutoCAD

As the interior design sector as a whole appears to blossom, there are two areas of particular interest for design applicants. Both kitchen sales designer jobs and bathroom designer jobs have increased considerably of late, with many companies, both large and small, looking to recruit talented and original design staff to fulfil these roles.

Some of these companies are small, independent studios who cater for high-end clients looking for an all-in-one, unique kitchen design solution. At the other end of the market, we have the large national and international kitchen and bathroom retailers and outfitters who are on the lookout for people who can create stylish, attractive, and timeless pieces suitable for the mass consumer market. Somewhere between the two, we find bespoke craftsmen – cabinetmakers, bathmakers, and the like – who create one-of-a-kind pieces of furniture for use in the bathroom or kitchen, that are as much a work of art as a functional item of room decoration.

At Careers in Design, we post vacancies from all of these potential employers, and many more.
