Our client is an award-winning atelier specialising in the design and manufacture of sculptural lighting and furniture. Combining traditional craftsmanship with innovative design, they create bespoke pieces and limited-edition collections for interior designers, private clients and collectors worldwide.

They are now looking for a talented CAD Designer to join their close-knit team and play a key role in transforming creative concepts into beautifully crafted products.

The Role:

Working closely with the design and fabrication teams, you will produce accurate technical drawings for both bespoke commissions and the company's established collections. You'll ensure designs are translated seamlessly into manufacture, helping deliver an outstanding experience for clients from concept through to installation. This is a collaborative, hands-on role requiring regular interaction with the workshop, fabricators and other departments.

Key Responsibilities are to:

  • Produce detailed manufacturing and presentation drawings using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
  • Develop bespoke designs from client briefs, sketches and concepts.
  • Interpret architectural drawings and prepare production-ready documentation.
  • Produce clear installation and aftercare documentation for clients.
  • Liaise with fabricators to ensure designs are fully understood and accurately manufactured.

Skills & Experience Required:

  • Experience designing lighting, furniture or bespoke metal products.
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Proficient in Autodesk Inventor and AutoCAD and the Adobe CS.
  • Experience of using Rhino would be a bonus.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Analytical with strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
  • Positive, proactive and able to work collaboratively across multiple departments.

Design Engineer - Bespoke Metalwork - Hampshire - up to £45,000 (V04304)

Our client is a specialist metal fabrication workshop creating exceptional bespoke pieces for the residential, commercial and marine sectors. From custom furniture and sculptural lighting to architectural metalwork and intricate fabrications, they combine traditional craftsmanship with innovative engineering.

The Role of Design Engineer:

Working closely with Estimating, Production, Procurement and Project teams, you'll take projects from concept through to manufacture, producing high-quality technical designs that meet both client expectations and manufacturing requirements.

  • Producing detailed 2D and 3D CAD drawings and models
  • Developing and refining designs throughout each project
  • Creating fabrication drawings and technical documentation
  • Supporting estimating, procurement and production teams with technical expertise
  • Liaising with clients, suppliers and colleagues to ensure successful project delivery
  • Attending occasional client meetings and site visits

As Design Engineer you will have:

  • At least 5 years' experience in a Design Engineer, CAD Designer or similar manufacturing role
  • Strong CAD skills using Autodesk Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD or similar
  • A solid understanding of manufacturing processes and technical drawing standards
  • Experience interpreting architectural drawings
  • Excellent communication, organisation and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and work collaboratively across departments

The Studio Design Director is a senior, hands-on creative role responsible for leading the design and development of wallpaper and fabric collections from concept through to production. Working closely with the Creative Director, the role combines creative vision with strong technical expertise in pattern design, colour, scale, repeats, substrates and digital printing.

The position involves creating original designs, developing freelance contributions, overseeing the studio design process, and ensuring all work remains true to the brand’s distinctive aesthetic and heritage. The role also includes supporting and guiding the design team, particularly the Design Development Manager, while helping shape the future structure and growth of the studio.

As the company enters a period of evolution and growth, the successful candidate will need to balance innovation with sensitivity to the brand’s history, values and identity. Due to the planned retirement of their Head of Design in 2028, they are seeking an ambitious Designer with the potential to progress into the Design Manager role.
