Womenswear Tailoring Designer - Leicestershire - up to £42,000 (V04271)

Our client is a major retailer across fashion, furniture and homeware, known for their quality, style and trend-led approach. 

They are currently seeking a Senior Assistant Tailoring Designer to join their Womenswear Team, bringing fresh ideas and creativity to their tailoring range. The role is on-site, 5 days per week although they may be open to working 1 day from home.

About the Role
As a Senior Assistant Tailoring Designer, you’ll play a key role in developing and supporting womenswear tailoring collections. You’ll respond to briefs quickly and creatively, ensuring designs are both trend-relevant and commercially strong. Working closely with designers, buyers, merchandisers and technologists, you’ll help deliver beautifully made garments that align with brand vision, price point and quality standards.
You’ll research and identify key trends in colour, silhouette and fabric, translating them into elevated designs that feel modern and customer-focused. The role will also involve creating accurate tech packs, briefing manufacturers, and supporting both main range development and project-based collections.

About You
You’ll have a strong background in womenswear fashion design with a particular passion for tailoring. Pattern cutting experience is essential, along with the ability to create and manage detailed tech packs. Proficiency in Photoshop and Illustrator is a must, and you’ll be comfortable working with suppliers and factories. Above all, you’ll be a collaborative team player who thrives in a fast-paced, creative retail environment. Experience with major retailers or suppliers would be a real advantage.

Are you a creative CAD Designer with a passion for art, craftsmanship and precision design?

Our client is a world-class maker of unique sculptural pieces, crafting extraordinary lighting and furniture for interior designers, collectors and private clients. As CAD Designer, you’ll be working closely with designers, artisans and fabricators, transforming creative ideas into detailed, accurate drawings ready for manufacture. You’ll ensure each bespoke piece reflects the company’s exceptional design standards, materials and craftsmanship. You will also be maintaining design databases, support prototype checks and contribute to installation and aftercare documentation.

Skills and experience sought from the CAD Designer:

  • Understanding of materials and processes used in luxury lighting, furniture or sculptural fabrication (metals, timber, glass, stone, ceramics)

As an Upholstery Product Developer, you’ll bring creative ideas to life - turning concepts into high-quality, commercially viable products. Collaborating with international design studios and working hands-on in the workshop, you’ll play a key role in every stage of development, from prototype to production.

What You’ll Do

  • Develop and refine prototypes, testing comfort, ergonomics, and durability.
  • Source, test, and evaluate upholstery materials, foams, and finishes that meet design and sustainability goals.
  • Carry out upholstery work in the workshop when needed.
  • Liaise with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal teams to ensure projects run smoothly from sampling through to production.

About You

  • Proven experience in upholstery and pattern cutting.
  • Strong knowledge of upholstery construction, foams, textiles and frames.

Working from its base in Gloucestershire, where it has a showroom and a manufacturing facility, the company emphasizes the use of traditional printing techniques along with AVA CAD/CAM to produce their wallpapers and fabrics. They operate vertically ensuring control from initial contact through to final print.

Our client has over 80 years of expertise in bespoke metal fabrication working with leading architecture firms in the UK to provide high end bespoke Lift interior finishes for new landmark builds and refurbishments.

They are currently recruiting for a Designer to work closely with the fabrication team and it will be a combined design and project management role alongside meeting clients with the MD to discuss projects. They are looking for an individual who wants to progress to managing their own projects in the future.

Offices are in Kent, inside the M25 close to public transport and there will be regular London site visits and meetings as it is not a desk bound role.

Main Responsibilities of the Designer:

  • Manage your own CAD and design workload
  • Liaise with client and architect to develop existing relationships
  • Attend and survey site liaising with install teams
  • Execute project planning and management of labour

Skills and Experience sought by the Designer:

  • 3+ years of experience in architectural metalwork design, sheet metalwork or joinery design
