Product design jobs are available across the design industry, from positions in small and medium-sized enterprises, to vacancies with some of the largest corporations in the global marketplace. With such a range of possibilities, it can be difficult to choose which of the available product designer jobs is the best for you.
Luckily, Careers in Design is here to help. Quite aside from assisting you with your CV to ensure that it shows you in the best possible light, we also scour through our available job listings in order to find a job vacancy that matches not only your work history, but also your future ambitions.
Our corporate clients post their vacancies with us from all over the world, because they know that we do more to match the right candidate with the right position than any other recruitment company.
While your job history and technical qualifications will be important, there are other strengths that a potential employer is looking for in a prospective candidate. As a product designer, you will be expected to liaise with clients and customers to discuss what they want from the product, so strong interpersonal and presentation skills are an absolute must. You will need a good working knowledge of design techniques and material qualities, as well as experience with CAD and other design software.
Of greatest importance when applying for a product designer job is demonstrating a creative flair. Depending on the role, you may be responsible for a product from its initial sketches through to its first production run, and you will need to maintain that spark of creativity (and its practical application, of course) throughout.
