Design Manager - London - up to £60,000 (V04098)

This company specialise in the design and manufacture of lighting products for both the residential and the commercial sectors.
 
Busy with new projects coming in they are currently seeking an experienced individual to take on the role of Design Manager. Managing a small team your remit will include both man-management and project management, liaising with clients, overseeing projects from brief to installation and checking that projects are running to deadline and budget.
 
Skills and Experience needed for the Design Manager:
  • 6+ years' relevant experience
  • Self-motivated and organised
  • Ability and knowledge of leading a small team
  • Solid project management skills
  • Problem-solving abilities 
  • Process driven and commercially minded
  • Knowledge or experience from the lighting industry preferable

Design Project Manager - London - up to £45,000 (V04090)

Our client is an international furniture company who are constantly growing and have long-standing collaborations with renowned international designers. In the UK they have three teams that work from their two showrooms to provide clients the ideal furniture, furnishings and interiors through their retail, bespoke and contract teams.
 
They are currently seeking a Senior Project Manager to work on projects within London for their contracts team. The role is likely to be 65% office based and 35% onsite dealing with developers and contractors so good strong diplomacy and negotiating skills will be needed.
 
Profile:
  • Ambitious and driven person who is looking to be part of a prestigious brand where success is recognised and rewarded
  • Ability to work in a team with a positive outlook
  • Able to manage projects independently and take responsibility for decisions
Some key responsibilities for the Project Manager: 
  • To prepare quotations and tender returns for multiunit projects
  • To collate data for pricing and prepare pricing documents using excel or other estimating software
  • To prepare information packages, containing drawings, details and any other information needed for the site team to carry out installation
  • To place orders with the factory and check order confirmations
  • To visit site and liaise with site managers making sure design details have been clearly understood by the site team and make site reports
  • To meet deadlines for submission dates provided by clients for drawings and quotations
  • To manage Client interfacing, following project from tender stage through to practical completion
Skills and experience needed for the role of Project Manager:
  • Project Management experience of £1m+ projects and multiple sites simultaneously
  • Able to collate information from different sources / suppliers to prepare costings
  • Proficient in AutoCAD and able to read construction drawings
  • PC literate - Word / Excel / PowerPoint
  • Excellent communication skills and analytical thinking
  • Ability to navigate Aconex, Sentryk, Asite, V4P etc.
  • Experience of managing Kitchen, Wardrobe and other joinery packages
  • Good presentation skills with the ability to understand a brief and to explain and present ideas
In return the salary range on offer is £40k to £45k with full business travel expenses paid and a company pension. There will also be full product and company training provided in London and in Italy.

They currently have an opening for a Furniture Designer with a strong technical knowledge of furniture construction to join their design team. They are seeking an individual who is a strong team player with a positive, can-do attitude. Knowledge and experience of VectorWorks is preferable but they will consider other similar CAD programmes.
 
They are also looking for cabinetmakers and specialist finishers due to a strong and full order book.
 
Skills and Experience needed for the Furniture Designer role:
  • Strong knowledge of both furniture manufacturing techniques and materials
  • Site installation experience is desirable, as well as practical cabinet-making or bench skills
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience within furniture or woodwork manufacturing
  • Good hand-sketching ability would be helpful

They are currently looking for an experienced furniture maker who is also proficient in 2D and 3D CAD Design. As Furniture Production Controller you will be coordinating and controlling the flow of work and information from design through manufacturing to completion and final delivery. You will be responsible for the quality and timeliness of the CAD Design and production drawings.
 
Duties of this role include:
  • Receiving the initial design brief to create the job specification and producing any drawings required at quotation stage
  • Managing the CAD team
  • Responsible for the production of drawings, samples, BOMs and cutting lists
  • Working closely with the whole team to ensure a seamless fulfilment of client orders
  • Preparing an accurate onsite installation pack for the installation team
  • Fully understanding the objectives and scope of each project, including timescales, verification of design and budget control
  
Skills and experience for the Furniture Production Controller:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a high-end cabinet making or specialist joinery role 
  • Understanding of a variety of manufacturing methods and the use of timber products, glass, metal, stone and fabrics
  • Experience of and familiarity with SolidWorks or AutoCAD draughting and 3D modelling tools
  • Able to interpret technical drawings and specifications and to effectively communicate the requirements to the production team
  • Strong problem-solving skills and solution focused
  • Pro-active and self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision
  • Strong planning, organisational and IT skills
Salary:

As a multi-disciplinary design-led practice our client boasts an impressive portfolio including blue-chip national and international clients specialising in all areas of the hospitality sector delivering projects throughout the UK and into Europe. Projects include bars, restaurants, hotels, casinos and cafes and they are based within easy commuting distance to London.
 
They currently have an opening for an Architectural Technician to join the team. This is a creative problem-solving, architectural design role for someone who has a good knowledge of building regulations and planning law to oversee compliance of the interior design team’s work undertaken. You will be detailing and lodging all local authority submissions from building regulations, planning and listed buildings to ensure all the work undertaken by the creative team is fully compliant. Knowledge gained through working on hotel and/or hospitality projects would be an advantage but not essential, more importantly is the ability to adapt to fast-track project delivery which can be varied from small scope to new builds.
 
They operate a development programme of review with a projection to an individual’s three-year target. Salary on offer is c£30k plus pension and use of a pool car for site visits.
Hours are 9am - 5.30pm, Mon- Fri.
 
Skills and Experience needed by the Architectural Technician: 
  • Experienced in a similar role with a good understanding of logistics for project delivery
  • Understanding of the RIBA work stages
  • An understanding of Health & Safety management in Construction
  • Clean Driving Licence
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar
  • Excel and Microsoft literate
