Mechanical Engineer - Hampshire - up to £32,000 (V03976)

Our client specialises in the design and manufacture of very high-quality lighting and furnishing products and have created the new role for a Mechanical Engineer to come in as Engineering Controller for all of the business’s mechanical and engineering aspects of their products.
 
You will be participating in the development of existing and new products, ensuring product quality and engineering performance. Experience in engineering within the consumer product industry would be an advantage.
Key tasks for the role of Engineering Controller:
  • Responsibility of engineering and mechanical performance of the product range
  • Assessment and management of release process of NPI and sustainment products
  • Feedback and collaboration with key suppliers on technical product development matters 
  • Specification of test requirements and development and execution of prototype testing
  • Producing 3D and 2D CAD drawings
  • Preparing and presenting information, ideas and data to Internal Customers 
Key skills and experience needed for the role of Engineering Controller:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in an applicable engineering development role
  • Good level of competence with 2D & 3D CAD Packages such as SolidWorks, Fusion 360 or Siemens NX
  • Knowledge and understanding of materials and manufacturing processes 
  • Good understanding of Mechanical Engineering principles
  • Knowledge of other applicable software tools such as Finite Element Analysis, Fluid Flow analysis
  • The ability to communicate effectively at all levels
  • A solution focused approach to all tasks and challenges 
  • Commercially aware

Technical Production Assistant - Props + Events - Essex - up to £28,000 (V03942)

This small family-run company specialise in Experiential Design, Production and Installation and are proud to count large brands and leading marketing agencies amongst their clients. Providing a range of services from exhibition stands, product launches and bespoke sampling stands to PR stunts, sampling bins and giant props, the company is theatrical in its approach and enjoys encouraging both clients and staff to be different.
 
Based near the Essex and Hertfordshire borders, they are currently looking for a Technical Production Assistant to support the Production Team. You will be creating CAD drawings, art working, proposals, pitch work and design costing. You will also be project managing smaller projects from brief through to delivery, ensuring successful realisation of projects adopting a hands-on approach to working in the production workshop.
 
Other duties for the Technical Production Assistant include:
  • Design interpretation, creating mood boards if required and basic visualisations
  • Performing practical tasks in the workshop such as prop making, finishing, vinyling, painting, sewing and basic carpentry
  • Creating CNC files and supervising CNC machining when required 
  • Assisting with the creation of content for social media posts and stories 
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new subcontractors, updating availability / task sheets and bookings
  • Liaising with suppliers  
 
Skills and experience needed for the Technical Production Assistant:
  • Experience of using a CAD software package, CNC and Adobe Illustrator
  • Good administration and project management skills
  • Able to demonstrate a hands-on approach at all times 
  • A team worker, highly organised and flexible in their approach
  • An understanding of the fast paced, ever-changing demands of high-end brands and clients 
  • Be health and safety compliant at all times 
  • Positive, sociable and adaptable

Furniture Designer / Team Leader - West Yorkshire - up to £40,000 (V03961)

This design-led manufacturer provides bespoke furniture solutions including stadiums, offices, courtrooms, hotels and restaurants. They have a reputation for great service, individuality and endless bespoke product options.
 
Due to continued and sustained growth they are looking to add an experienced Furniture Designer to their team. They can offer plenty of support and career development but you should be confident in taking on projects that often involve a fast turnaround from initial concept to design solution. Ideally they are seeking a Lead Designer level where you can head up a team on larger projects.
 
Main areas of responsibility for the Furniture Designer include:
  • Design development for Bars, Reception Counters, Wall Panelling, Feature Ceilings and Banquette Seating 
  • Researching and integrating components / fittings 
  • Generating clear and accurate approval and production drawings
  • Sketching out specific details, ideas and sections to present options for the construction of an item 
  • Researching the required materials taken from the finishes schedule
  • Daily use of the Company Management System (CMS) to reference and save information 
  • Booking and attending model reviews, following an item through into production
 
Skills and experience sought from the Furniture Designer:
  • 4+ years’ experience in producing detailed drawings of bespoke furniture for manufacture
  • SolidWorks proficient or similar
  • A strong understanding of furniture production methods and materials 
  • Able to generate accurate, detailed production drawings 
  • Able to work to timescales and deadlines
