Product CAD Technician - Surrey - up to £30,000 (V04311)

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Product CAD Technician to join the design and product development team of a highly respected luxury lighting and furniture brand.

Our client is synonymous with beautifully crafted, high-end products and supplies some of the world's most prestigious hotels, yachts and residential projects. Product development, casting, decorative finishing, assembly and wiring are all undertaken in-house, alongside a network of highly skilled artisans.

This is a 12-month contract role focused on an exciting project to digitally document and standardise their extensive back catalogue of furniture and lighting products. You will use SolidWorks to recreate existing physical products as accurate 3D models and technical drawings, ensuring their designs are properly documented and ready for manufacturing, specification and internal use. The role could be particularly well suited to a recent Product Design graduate looking to develop their CAD and technical skills within a luxury design environment.

The Product CAD Technician role is to:

  • Create accurate 3D models and 2D technical drawings using SolidWorks.
  • Produce detailed manufacturing, assembly, component and exploded-view drawings.
  • Review and update existing drawings to ensure consistency and accuracy.
  • Maintain organised drawing files, revisions and product information.
  • Use Excel to manage drawing registers and documentation.
  • Ensure technical drawings meet internal standards and are suitable for manufacture and supplier communication.

Skills needed for the Product CAD Technician role:

  • Proficient in SolidWorks and good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience producing detailed technical and assembly drawings, ideally including GAs and exploded views.
  • A good understanding of manufacturing processes for furniture, lighting or similar physical products.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good communication skills and comfortable working collaboratively with design and technical teams.

The Role:
Working alongside experienced designers and engineers, you will support the development of new and existing products, producing accurate CAD data, manufacturing drawings and technical documentation.

Key responsibilities include:

About You as a Senior Technical Designer:

  • Experience in technical design within bespoke kitchens, cabinetry, furniture, joinery or high-end interior fit-out.
  • Strong understanding of cabinet construction, materials, hardware and manufacturing processes.
  • You will have excellent technical drawing skills and be proficient in AutoCAD.
  • Experience programming CNC machinery and knowledge of CNC tooling, nesting and machining strategies.
  • Organised, commercially aware and comfortable managing multiple projects.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate effectively.

They are now seeking an experienced and detail-focused Furniture & Joinery Draftsperson to join their talented team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a passion for fine craftsmanship and technical precision to work on prestigious bespoke projects within a collaborative and creative environment. They are open to the role being either part-time or full-time.

The Role
Based in the office and working closely with the Workshop Manager and Project Manager, you will be responsible for producing accurate technical drawings for client approval and workshop production, ensuring every detail is translated into exceptional finished pieces. A full driving licence and access to a car will be needed as the offices and workshop are not easily accessible via public transport

Key Responsibilities are to:
