Known for their sophisticated luxury chic to match their clients' lifestyles, they are currently seeking a Designer and Specifications Assistant who is still early on in their career and can work alongside the studio's protégé and assist with both UK and International projects.

Position requirements:

  • A minimum of 1 year gained experience on luxury residential projects
  • Knowledge of furniture artists, galleries and art deco design
  • Fabric specification and procurement experience
  • Able to understand and read space plans, floor finish plans, ceiling plans, elevations and details from architect drawings


Position overview:

  • Assisting in fabrics selections, liaising with fabric suppliers and maintaining the fabrics library
  • Assisting with preparation and development on projects with images, material & mood boards and other documents relating to the design.
  • Assisting on accurate estimates, quotations and invoicing documents
  • Attending client meetings with the responsibility of note-taking and supporting the studio team


Desirables:

  • EstiPC experience
  • Fluent in French

  • Rhino and KeyShot knowledge (training will be provided)

This family-run business has been working within the kitchen marketplace for many years and last year refurbished all of their three showrooms to a very high standard.

Due to natural growth and a further new showroom due to be opened in April they are seeking an additional Kitchen Designer. The role will allow flexibility with some home working and although all the leads will be provided, you must be able and be prepared to drive to visit customers' homes. The role will be based in their showroom just South of Birmingham.

Person / Experience Required:

Senior FF&E Designer (Client Advert) - London - negotiable (V03725)

A permanent position has arisen at SMC Design to take ownership of the senior FF&E responsibilities on a variety of projects. For this role it is crucial that the candidate is competent working with minimal over-seeing, producing a high quality of work.

This role is now available due to continued success and we are looking for an enthusiastic, creative and organised FF&E Designer to work on high-end marine interior design projects, liasing with suppliers and working to a clients needs and aspirations. Project involvement is from conception through to completion and the candidate will join projects at a variety of stages along the way to perform this dynamic and fast-paced role.

Experience in delivering FF&E packages for large-scale commercial projects (eg hotels/cruise ships) is essential, as well as impeccable organisational, research and communication skills.

The ideal candidate must be able to demonstrate the following:

  • Proficiency in Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign, Excel, and confidence in using an Apple Mac computer. Familiarity with navigating VectorWorks is a bonus but not essential.
  • An extensive understanding of finishes, furniture and lighting, with a fantastic eye for the finer details.
  • Experience completing specifications to a high standard of clarity.
  • An ability to interpret a brief and design schemes for a wide variety of clients tastes, brand identities or requirements.
  • An ability to research for and create strong mood boards.
  • An ability to create sample boards for client presentations.
  • An understanding of controlling budgets, as well as an enjoyment of problem solving and fulfilling proposed concepts within budget.
  • An ability to work as part of a larger team, but also independently on projects where required.
  • An ability to hit the ground running and be self motivated, supported by their previous experience taking ownership of the FF&E on projects.
  • Excellent written, visual and verbal communication skills, for succinctly communicating concepts and information to a variety of people involved in the project: in house, external 3D visual artists, clients and contractors. Strong English is essential.


A positive attitude towards mucking in will be expected, as the FF&E team all help out with keeping the library and layout area tidy and functioning! It is also essential that the candidate is able to travel (often at short notice) to locations within the UK and abroad. 8 to 10 years experience is sought and in return a competitive salary will be offered, negotiable depending on experience.

Job Description:

The candidate will be required to deliver innovative and intuitive graphic solutions to work on prestigious leisure projects. Projects include logo design, signage & wayfinding design, brand development, and in-house marketing collateral.

Responsibilities:

  • Making recommendations for concept, design and art direction for a variety of two and three-dimensional graphics and signage
  • Preparing photo visualizations and mock-ups of proposed signage for placement, content and/or usage
  • Leading, coordinating and carrying out extensive signage and graphic packages to a print/production-ready standard
  • Assisting clients with translating their expressed needs and ideas into concepts, and developing into effective design
  • Liaising with internal and external resources and being capable of researching and sourcing information quickly and effectively
  • Preparing detailed drawings of signage designs
  • Participating in project team meetings internally and externally and being comfortable presenting ideas and designs
  • Maintaining accurate files and records
  • Managing personal work flow and schedule
  • Assisting in the preparation of bids and marketing materials

Basic Experience:

  • 3+ years' studio and client facing experience in a Graphic Design position
  • Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite - InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop
  • Cinema 4D, 3D Max (a bonus)
  • An excellent, diverse portfolio of work
  • Strong Branding design
  • A broad variety of client / project experience
  • Ability to work on one's own and as part of a team

SMC Design are looking for a BIM Coordinator to manage the BIM delivery process, cooperate and work closely with other members of the multi-disciplinary team working under our in-house BIM Manager. 

Externally a BIM Coordinator is expected to work closely with external organisations (including architects and engineers) within a project team and with our clients through all stages of our relationship with them. 

As an expert BIM / Revit user you will produce accurate Revit models with reliable BIM data according to the relevant company BIM documentation. You will also review 3D Models from consultants and contractors.

You will be responsible for:

  • Content production and development, in line with the company BIM protocols
  • Daily model management, administration and maintenance ensuring the health of BIM models and databases
  • Collaborating with and coordinating subcontractors and consultants; receiving and managing multiple subcontractor models
  • Adhering to the BIM execution plan and BIM project workflow criteria
  • Integrating Models and producing clash detection reports and managing clash detection meetings on site with the project teams

Requirements:

  • Proven recent hands-on experience of BIM implementation in a similar role.
  • Proficient in the set up and coordination of 3D BIM models.
  • Understanding of Level 2 BIM and BS/PAS 1192 suite of documents/ UK BIM requirements.
  • Proficient in using Revit, AutoCAD and other Autodesk products.
  • Experience of Model Authoring and creating families.
  • Familiar with 4D Scheduling / Simulation using simulation software (Navisworks, BIM 360 Glue and Enscape).

Office Manager: The main function of the role is to assist with the day-to-day running of the company and the ideal candidate will have a strong working knowledge of sales administration, processing invoices and customer service.
Responsibilities will include arranging travel and accommodation; meeting agendas and minute taking; providing support and the processing of purchase invoices, receipts, purchase orders, credit control, sending sales invoices, cash flow. There will also be general departmental administration and scanning/filing of financial and relevant information plus answering the telephone, logging calls and dealing with any enquiries.

This role does not necessarily have to be full time. It could suit someone who is looking for work during school hours and wants to work every day but between 9am - 3pm for example, or someone who can work 4 full days with one day off. This role will be based in their offices in Lancashire.

Working hours are Monday - Friday, 9am-5pm (full time) or Monday - Friday, 9am-3pm (part time which can be discussed and flexible)
A salary of between £20k and £25k is on offer.
