Senior Creative Furniture Designer - South West England - negotiable (V03823)

This company has unique and unparalleled knowledge and expertise in the interior architecture of historical and period properties. They work directly with their clients who come to them for their beautiful and detailed pieces of furniture, joinery and workmanship.

Planning ahead they are looking for a Senior Creative Furniture Designer to take on a lead position, using their knowledge of architectural joinery and cabinetmaking for a client facing role.

Person / Experience Required:

  • The candidate will need good knowledge of historical furniture and architectural details as well as a flair for contemporary design
  • Experience within the interiors marketplace able to sketch out designs freehand and draw up space plans using AutoCAD
  • A basic knowledge of building structure would be an advantage
  • Excellent literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You must be well-organised and committed, able to work to deadlines and manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Also a self-starter and able to work on their own or part of a team
  • Experience in a supervisory capacity would be an advantage

This British Company manufactures beautiful bespoke furniture, cabinetry and specialist joinery work for a global network of clients. Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques.

They work on both classical and contemporary interiors including dressing rooms, staircases and libraries, cinemas, wine rooms, games rooms and yachts and have premises both in Norwich and nearer the coast. It is for the latter that they seek a Technical Furniture Designer for their growing design and technical team.

Objectives and requirements for the Furniture Designer:

  • To take a brief and/or sketched concept and work into production drawings and 3D CAD renders using SolidWorks
  • You will need at least 3 years' experience in a wood based environment - joinery, shopfitting or cabinet making
  • Liaising with other departments using your good communication skills
  • To work as part of a team to create effective working relationships
  • Appreciating the luxury end of the marketplace showing excellent attention to detail and careful considerations of materials and techniques

For this venue they have a few openings left for a Kitchen Designer (client facing, sales and design role), a Technical Designer (non-sales role working alongside the designers) and a Sales Consultant (front of house, lead generating and welcoming clients).

Person / Experience Required (depending on the role):

  • Kitchen Designer - professional, well-presented, motivated and creative designer with excellent communication and customer service skills gained within the kitchen industry in a showroom environment.
  • Technical Designer - strong CAD (AutoCAD or AutoKitchen) skills who is able to produce layouts and detailed technical drawings with experience from a kitchen or residential design company.
  • Sales Consultant - professional, well-presented with strong customer service and sales skills gained from working with luxury brands.

Salaries:

  • Kitchen Designer - c£35k plus commission, OTE c£100k
  • Technical Designer - c£30k plus bonus, OTE c£40k
  • Sales Consultant - £25k to £30k plus commission

We are looking for a furniture designer to join our studio team. This is an exciting opportunity for a candidate to join a design-led manufacturer and contribute to the design and development of new collections for the Hospitality, Cruise and Workplace markets.

The role would ideally suit a creative, passionate designer who wants to develop skills in design and production within an ambitious contract furniture business. The Design Studio team launch new collections, work with external designers and develop bespoke products throughout the year.

Your place of work will be their Studio located in West London, easily accessible with public transport. Working hours can be flexible.
