Kitchen Designer / Project Manager - London - up to £30,000 (V03647)

This leading artisan in professional home kitchens create handcrafted pieces in their renowned sleek industrial style. With an opulent look, each cabinet and metalwork detail is crafted with an eye for beauty in Italy and they are currently seeking an individual to join their small and growing team based in their London Showroom.

This role would suit a designer who has an architectural mind and who can advise on the design and layout of large kitchens including any structural changes. It will be an organisational and client facing role so your presence, communication skills and commercial head will be important. You will also be expected to monitor and manage the project through to installation, liaising with the technical design team. There will be regular travel to clients and trade shows and an initial visit to the Head Office in Italy for training.

Person / Experience Required:

  • 4+ years' experience on residential projects or from the kitchen sector
  • AutoCAD literacy and Photoshop would be a distinct advantage
  • Commercially aware with a marketing mind
  • Professional and smart in appearance
  • Both creative and technically minded
  • Proactive, organised and self-motivated
  • Excellent spoken and written English

A fantastic opportunity has arisen to join this theatrical design and production company and take the lead in running 14,000 sq. ft. workshop and yard production space.

This family run business produce and deliver a diverse range of sets and props for events, product launches, exhibitions, sampling campaigns and experiential marketing projects with high levels of customer service and quality finish. Their in-house services include event design and production, project management, spray finishing, sewing and costume, operations, logistics and storage. They also love dogs and have a special dog creche on site.

As the Workshop Manager you will be responsible for the full end to end production build for all projects - taking the lead on production builds from brief through to delivery. Managing the workshop space, outside yard and storage containers you will oversee a sub contract production team which can vary in size from 1 to 20, depending on each project.

Person / Experience Required:

  • Ideally from a theatrical or exhibition background with experience in production of a broad range of sets, props and modular units, at a senior level
  • Adaptable, flexible with an accommodating attitude
  • An understanding of the ever changing demands of high-end brands is essential
  • Strong leadership and production skills and able to work under pressure with often tight deadlines
  • Experience with software including AutoCAD / SketchUp would be an added benefit
  • Qualification or experience in health and safety compliance and buildings maintenance would be an added benefit but is not essential

  • 3+ years' experience working within a design environment for a technical / specialist products company
  • Experience using 3D CAD software (SolidWorks or similar)
  • Experience and understanding of sheet metal fabrication and its impact on design would be beneficial
  • Have a solution based approach with strong problem solving skills
  • Excellent time management and organisation skills for the successful completion of projects
  • Good sketching skills would be advantageous
  • Strong communication skills, able to identify customers' needs and understand technical information

The person for this role should have worked successfully on projects from inception to completion for a minimum period of 5 years, with an industry recognised qualification in Interior Design. Person / Experience Required:

  • Degree in Furniture Design, Product Design or 3D Design
  • A logical and pragmatic approach to problem solving and designing functional solutions
  • Knowledge of mechanics, joinery, machine cutting, material finishes along with at least 3 years' industry experience in a workshop scenario or a mixed technical / creative role
  • Knowledge of 2D & 3D routing CAD software
