Design and Sales Consultant (Field Based) - North West England - negotiable (V03870)

This leading supplier of beautiful bespoke wardrobes and dressing rooms for luxury residential properties has a clientele from across the UK. They work from concept to installation, bestowing a personable approach with every design reflecting the individual lifestyle and storage needs of each client.

As an online business their website is their “shop front” and despite the current challenging economic conditions, they are thriving as a business and need to increase their design sales force to meet the demand for their products.

Ideally based within a 20 miles radius of Macclesfield your area will stretch as far as Preston and Liverpool, across to Leeds and down as far as Leicestershire. All leads will be generated in-house and you will be given an average of 40 enquiries per month to contact, arrange visits and convert into design and sales.

Experience and Skills Required for the Design and Sales Consultant:

  • A minimum of 5 years' proven experience in designing and selling within the luxury interiors sector (kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms or other fitted furniture)
  • CAD literate, ideally VectorWorks, AutoCAD or ArtiCAD
  • Happy and able to be mobile with your own presentable car to visit clients
  • You should be well-presented to generate a first impression that creates confidence with their discerning clients
  • Able to manage your own diary and arrange client visits
  • A good listener to understand the specific storage needs, design and requirements of your client
  • Creative and able to produce high-quality designs to achieve customer specifications and budget
  • Meticulous and accurate to be able to take precise site measurements and relay your design solutions to the in-house Drawing and Quotation Team

In return:

They offer an attractive remuneration package for the right candidate. You will have a choice of:

  • £25,000 basic plus 5% commission on sales
  • No basic and a straight 10% commission on sales

Realistic OTE is £60,000 per annum, plus travelling expenses. You'll get extensive training and support for you to succeed and have the ability to work from home.

Product Designer / Graphic Designer - Wiltshire - up to £25,000 (V03867)

Our client manufactures a world class product, which they sell successfully in the UK and the US and increasingly, worldwide.

Due to a large increase in business this year they are seeking an additional Product Designer to join the Product Development team. You will be primary responsible for creating puzzle cut designs using CAD, art working using Adobe Creative Suite and assisting in the NPD process. They will also consider working partly in the office and partly from home remotely.

Additional responsibilities for the Product Designer include:

  • Assisting with product testing and quality control
  • Creatively working to specifications and briefs
  • Working closely with other teams to ensure a high-quality final product
  • Providing quality control over own work
  • Managing the complete product design lifecycle from brainstorming and concept development to project management and production

The competencies needed to perform the role of Product Designer successfully include:

  • The ability to work to briefs and collaborate with cross-functional team members
  • Excellent written and verbal communication
  • Demonstrable enthusiasm, drive, and self-motivation
  • Thinking creatively to produce new ideas
  • Excellent planning and organisational skills - ability to manage own workload
  • The ability to suggest own ideas and improvements to products
  • The ability to work independently on several projects simultaneously to tight deadlines

Experience needed for the Product Designer role:

  • 1-2 years of experience as a Product Designer / Graphic Designer
  • Degree or equivalent in Product Design / Graphic Design or related field
  • Strong CAD and Adobe Creative Suite (mainly Photoshop and InDesign) skills
  • Knowledge of working on both PC and Mac

Working hours: 9am - 5.30pm Monday - Friday.
Salary is c£25k plus 25 days holiday, contributory pension, social events and annual puzzle allowance. Also a continual supply of chocolates, cakes and bacon rolls!

Due to their location you will need your own car in order to get to work and there is free onsite parking.

As a product designer, you'll create a range of consumer items including equipment, apparel and accessories. You will work on new products, and seek to develop existing ones, using your understanding of technology, materials and manufacturing methods.
You will be working in the design studio putting together a design proposal for projects and then following through from concept to manufacture.

Responsibilities also include:

  • Working on ideas using CAD
  • Sketching initial design ideas and using the 3D printer to test ideas
  • Identifying the suitability and availability of materials
  • Producing detailed drawings and design specifications, including parts lists and costings
  • Testing the design concept, researching materials, processes or market requirements
  • Occasional travel to offices in China and Japan to assist in the development process as required
  • Making presentations to senior management, to present design proposals

Person / Experience Required:

  • A Product Industrial Design Engineering degree with 3 years' post-graduate experience
  • A high degree of technical knowledge balanced with creative ability and a hands-on approach
  • Commercial awareness
  • Proficiency in CAD, Adobe Photoshop and Illustrator
  • Familiarity with the capabilities and limitations of CNC machining & injection moulding
  • Knowledge of industrial processes, techniques and standards
  • A willingness to build and maintain positive working relationships and to share information with others

This family-run business has been operating for over 20 years and is one the largest independent retailers in Coventry and Warwickshire with two great showrooms. They offer a large range of German kitchens and have won a number of national and local awards.

They are now busy looking to recruit an experienced Kitchen Designer to join the team. You will be working on your own projects from customer enquiry through to installation including home measuring visits when safe to do so.

There will also be the chance to travel to Germany (when travel is allowed) along with home cooking demonstrations and other showroom events.

Skills and experience sought:

  • Strong and proven track record within kitchen design and sales
  • Good IT skills and CAD literate (they use 20:20 Fusion and EasyQuote)
  • A natural flair for design, presentation and customer service
  • A confident, enthusiastic and friendly individual
  • Own car and driving licence

Everything they design is completely bespoke, and their 12,000sq.ft. modern workshop houses a dedicated team of cabinet-makers and finishers.

They are currently seeking to fill a key role for the business so the successful candidate will need plenty of experience within the furniture and joinery sector in a client facing role.

It is important that you have knowledge and a firm grasp of historical furniture and architectural details both in a classical and contemporary setting.


Other skills and experience:

  • Proven experience within the interiors marketplace, able to sketch out designs freehand and draw up space plans using AutoCAD

You will also be preparing a bill of materials to be sourced and ordered by purchasing.

Skills and Experience required for the Furniture Designer:

  • An all-rounder with strong conceptual, sketching and CAD skills
  • At least 4 years' knowledge of bespoke furniture making and construction at a luxury level
  • Fluency in 2D & 3D CAD software with Rhino an advantage
  • Ability to plan and schedule your own work (particularly important if working remotely)
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and team working skills
  • Ability to work to budgets for completion of engineering drawings
