Specialist Furniture Finisher - workshop based - Shropshire - negotiable (V03838)

Our client designs and makes bespoke furniture, antiqued mirror and creates specialist finishes for leading interior designers, architects and private clients all over the world.

They have recently closed the London workshop and moved the specialist finishing up to their main workshop and business in Shropshire. This has resulted in a vacancy for a skilled specialist finisher with a wealth of practical experience to join and potentially oversee the existing team there. The right candidate will help the company expand this side of the business and should be self-motivated, responsible and happy to be part of a wider team, sharing and learning new skills.

Skills Required:

  • Gilding, Verre Eglomisé
  • French polishing, painting, staining and colouring timbers
  • Spray lacquering
  • Decorative painting
  • Gesso
  • Experience in a similar cabinet making or finishing role is essential
  • A restoration background is desirable
  • You will need attention to detail and a positive attitude

CAD Product Designer - London - up to £32,000 (V03836)

This company based in South London designs and produces some of the best door furniture and ironmongery in the world used on exclusive residential and hospitality projects. Their core ranges are designed and manufactured in Britain, and are the result of a history of innovation combined with decades of experience.

They are now looking to add to the team by recruiting for the role of CAD and ERP Administrator. This role will be responsible for ensuring all products are drawn with absolute accuracy and can be made in the most efficient way possible and that all product data and assets are well-managed, maintained and organized. They may consider utilising the Government's Kickstart scheme where the candidate needs to be 24 years old or younger and out of work or take on a more experienced individual if they match all the criteria in the spec below. They are seeking a practically minded individual, is is not a creative role.

Responsibilities will include to:

  • Draw new products in CAD
  • Bring the products to market through the development of prototypes and testing
  • Design and engineer bespoke products for prestigious architects and interior design customers
  • Maintain the product and component drawing database
  • Provide the sales team with costing estimates
  • Maintain the bills of materials for the product range on the ERP system
  • Create fitting instructions and finishing diagrams

Skills and aptitude:

  • The ability to manage CAD files using file-management software
  • Min 2 years' experience within product design
  • Fluent in Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Ability to work in fast paced environment that requires speed and flexibility
  • Knowledge of designing parts for CNC machining
  • Practical experience within a workshop
  • Ability to build good relationships with internal staff and external suppliers
  • Basic coding experience would be useful, as would experience using a lathe or milling machine

Furniture Technician - Surrey/West Sussex - up to £35,000 (V03834)

This company's Italian inspired designs for bespoke bedroom and bathroom furniture and state-of-the art manufacturing facilities have earned them an enviable reputation with major UK housebuilders and the A&D community.

Based on the West Sussex and Surrey Borders they are on the hunt for two experienced CAD Technicians with a proven track record and that understand joinery and manufacturing. You will be both developing concepts for housebuilders and taking design drawings from architects / interior designers to develop them into detailed manufacturing drawings and issue them to the CNC machinist.

Person / Experience Required:

  • The successful candidates will be expected to undertake the development of bespoke furniture from concept stage through to manufacture, including material and component specifications, production of prototypes and drawings as necessary to suit the brief
  • With at least 3 years' industry experience within a similar environment
  • You will be competent in 3D software with good rendering skills an advantage
  • Cabinet Vision a preference but not essential
  • A high level of attention to detail will be expected and good technical draughting skills
  • You will possess the interpersonal skills to maintain customer-facing relationships and be able to advise them on design finishes

This is an office based role and they are ready for the candidates to start as soon as possible.

They currently have a newly created opening for a recent graduate who has great digital skills and can create imagery for client presentations from 2D CAD drawings and to assist the conceptual design team.

The ideal candidate will have illustrative/graphical talent and be passionate about interior design with a taste for period buildings and furniture. The role would primarily involve assistance with design presentations to clients, compiling technical drawings, product specifications and reference imagery into a digital document, and producing striking three-dimensional visualisations through digital art software.

It is essential that presentation documents are highly professional and suitably attractive. They will also need to be pulled together to tight deadlines. Therefore, innate organisational ability and visual perfectionism are necessary. It is essential that the candidate has experience in AutoCAD, Adobe Photoshop and InDesign, SketchUp, Procreate or Sketchbook, 3DS Max.

Depending on the candidate’s predisposition, obvious opportunities for progression are in interior/furniture design and decorative furnishing design.

Experienced in all aspects of joinery manufacture and installation, they work closely with main contractors, designers and architects on both classical and contemporary interiors including dressing rooms, staircases, libraries, cinemas, wine rooms and games rooms.

They are currently looking for an experienced and motivated Cabinet Maker who has a good eye for detail. You should have a passion for making high-end furniture and be skilled in using a variety of materials. This is an ideal position for a person who is creative and enjoys making custom cabinetry from conception to creation.

Person / Experience Required:

  • Experience and confident with the use of wood-working machinery
  • Able to work from CAD production drawings
  • Good communication skills
  • Veneering experience preferable
  • Should have a positive approach and be able to problem solve
  • Aware of Health and Safety practices in the workshop and knowledge of the appropriate PPE required
  • Able to complete final inspection of jobs and sign-off for delivery

Salary will be paid on an hourly rate plus time and a quarter for overtime, quarterly profit share and additional holiday awarded for long service.

Person / Experience Required:

  • The candidate will need good knowledge of historical furniture and architectural details as well as a flair for contemporary design
  • At least 10 to 15 years industry experience
  • Experience within the interiors marketplace able to use SolidWorks and/or Inventor and ideally AutoCAD
  • A basic knowledge of building structure would be an advantage
  • Excellent literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You must be well-organised and committed, able to work to deadlines and manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • Also a self-starter and able to work on their own or part of a team
