Senior Creative Designer / Furniture Designer - Bristol - negotiable (V03705)

This company is a specialist in the interior architecture and fitted furniture for historical and period properties. They count themselves as privileged to have worked in a variety of beautiful buildings spanning Country and London Town Houses across the UK and abroad. Everything they design is completely bespoke, and their modern 12,000sq.ft. workshop houses a dedicated team of cabinet-makers and finishers.

This new role is senior and key to the company so the successful candidate will have plenty of experience handling both clients and liaising with the technical team and workshop.

This role includes designing bespoke projects from a client brief using your CAD and hand drawing skills and will involve knowledge of historical furniture and architectural details as well as incorporating contemporary design when appropriate.

Other Objectives and Requirements:

  • You will be putting together design presentations for the clients and their architects so good literacy and communication skills, both verbal and written will be needed
  • You must be well-organised and committed, able to work to deadlines and manage a number of projects simultaneously
  • You will be a self-starter as well as being able to work as part of a team
  • This is a role that would suit an individual who thrives on attention to detail and excels creatively

This vibrant design and build company create and fit out bespoke high impact office interiors and seek a creative Senior Interior Designer to join their successful design team.

With offices based in West Sussex near the coast and London this position would be to become part of the London office with occasional trips to Sussex.

The role will have a wide variety of responsibilities as you will be taking projects from initially enquiry and concept pitch through to realisation of the design and drawing packages and on to installation and completion.

Objectives and requirements:

  • To produce and present pitches in a competitive environment
  • Develop the production of designs and specification criteria requiring good technical knowledge and skills
  • To carry out site surveys and use AutoCAD and the Adobe Creative Suite
  • You may be managing a small team of project designers so past supervisory experience will be preferred
  • Due to the responsibilities of the role you should have a commercial Design and Build background with workplace analysis experience a bonus

Person / Experience Required:

  • Strong CAD (ideally AutoCAD) and technical drawing skills to work alongside the Sales Designers

  • Sourcing materials and finding new suppliers, requiring a good knowledge of design trends and innovative design materials, products and suppliers
  • Coordinating the supply of all items relevant for each project and the delivery to site at the correct times
  • Managing a team on site and review site installation of all items

Their work includes sets and props for events, product launches, exhibitions, sampling campaigns and experiential marketing projects such as a 5m high giant lipstick, a billboard sized chocolate bar and a UK tour of experiential mud huts for a leading charity.

They are seeking a Production Manager to ensure that all their projects are delivered as designed on time and on budget and to enable production to improve and increase capacity through more efficient production processes.

This is a pivotal hands-on role managing a hardworking and committed production team. You will be responsible for the full end-to-end production for all projects - taking the lead on production and project management from brief through to delivery and working effectively with the client, production team and sub-contractors on a daily basis.

Person / Experience Required:

Candidates would ideally come from a proven theatrical or exhibition background and have experience in production management of a broad range of sets, props and modular units, from conception through to execution. Working with an adaptable, flexible, accommodating attitude is a must and understanding the ever-changing demands of high-end brands is essential.

Candidates should demonstrate the following:

  • Experience in exacting manufacturing projects
  • Experience in supervising and motivating a team of workers
  • Good computer skills around MS office, AutoCAD skills an advantage but not essential
  • Experienced in the planning and executing of projects based around strict budgets and deadlines
  • Ability to deliver reports on scheduling and costs
  • Monitoring of product standards and implementation of quality-control programmes
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Driving and fork lift licence would be helpful but not essential
