This company is a leading manufacturer of high quality bespoke joinery offering total project management from initial site survey through to installation and are a fast growing company with a high level of repeat clients and new customers joining their portfolio continuously.

They are currently seeking a Technical Designer still at the early stages of their career to grow and develop within their team. You will be working with the technical design team taking concept designs and turning them into ready-to-manufacture technical drawings for the in-house joinery workshop. It involves working with a comprehensive range of materials and designs for high-end companies throughout the capital.

Objectives and requirements:

  • Producing complete and checked technical drawings using Solid Edge 3D design software
  • Manufacturing and pre-installation construction takes place in-house, so good communication is required between sales, project management, the design team, production and the joiners, to resolve any potential design and material issues
  • Take offs for CNC milling and other outsourced material production will also be required directly from the CAD drawings, so accuracy is vital
  • Liaising with joiners so at least some experience with manufacturing and furniture / joinery is needed
  • Participating in company and departmental discussions about improvements and innovation so a genuine interest in the marketplace and a keenness to take part would be expected

Competitive remuneration and 22 days' holiday minimum (increasing by 1 day every 2 years to a maximum of 25 days). Lunch is provided by the company and there is parking space on the premises.

All manufacturing takes place at the Company's premises and with ambitious plans for the next generation of new products they need an enthusiastic and organised Product Designer to manage product development.

This exciting role will cover the whole development process from formulating plans through to delivering to deadline all new products and the re-development of current products. The role also includes market research, creating concepts, prototyping and testing all through to manufacture. The remit will also cover the briefing and liaising with any outside design agencies that might be used.

Objectives and requirements:

  • To lead the team and oversee product design, formalising the design function and processes so you will need to show man management skills and a practical and organised thought process
  • Experience from a product specific role within a manufacturing environment
  • You will be working with sales and marketing to understand changes in the market, their competitors and to schedule new product launches or updates so excellent communication and analysing skills are needed
  • As this is a hands-on role you will need good technical design abilities and to be CAD literate, they use SolidWorks

Person / Experience Required:

  • Degree qualified in Industrial Design / Product Design and a track record in technical product design
  • Fully creative and confident in project managing all that is encompassed in the product design process
  • Experience within the play sector would be an advantage but not necessity
  • APMP or Prince 2 Training would also be preferred but not a necessity
  • The ability to manage the delivery of a number of complex projects simultaneously, thriving under pressure
  • Commercially aware with a with strong presentation and communication skills
  • An excellent knowledge of materials and industrial manufacturing processes
  • Excellent data handling and analysis skills

James & Wallis Limited are looking for an experienced Senior Interior Designer to join its busy showroom in Beaconsfield.

The successful candidate will have experience in efficiently and successfully working from inception to completion for a minimum of 5 years to include high-end private residential projects.

As an Interior Designer, you will be responsible for carrying out property surveys, specifying appropriate furnishings, sourcing furniture, fabrics and accessories within the given lead time and budget. You will be confident in presenting your design schemes with clients in a variety of formats to illustrate your proposals to them. Clients will be mainly from the Home Counties and London.

Main duties and responsibilities:

  • Attending site and client meetings
  • Measuring and estimating for curtains, blinds, poles and tracks
  • Creation of schemes, sourcing fabrics / furniture/ lighting etc., producing presentation boards, liaising with suppliers and the client
  • Producing schedules and scope of works
  • Producing project quotes for the client
  • Placing and confirming orders with suppliers
  • Project management, including liaising with architects, contractor's trades and the client

Skills sought:

  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of FF&E selection (materials, finishes, detailing and scheduling) and procurement
  • Able to produce mood boards
  • Excellent measuring skills and technical knowledge
  • Proven experience in dealing with suppliers and contractors
  • Excellent communication skills including verbal, written and visual and must be numerate
  • Self-motivated and good team player, able to work quickly and efficiently in an organised manner to meet deadlines
  • Full UK Driving Licence
  • Experience with VectorWorks and ACE would be an advantage as would good freehand skills


Hours will be 39.5 (including alternate Saturdays) and salary is negotiable for the right person and dependant on experience.
