Technical Production Assistant - Props + Events - Essex - up to £28,000 (V03942)

This small family-run company specialise in Experiential Design, Production and Installation and are proud to count large brands and leading marketing agencies amongst their clients. Providing a range of services from exhibition stands, product launches and bespoke sampling stands to PR stunts, sampling bins and giant props, the company is theatrical in its approach and enjoys encouraging both clients and staff to be different.
 
Based near the Essex and Hertfordshire borders, they are currently looking for a Technical Production Assistant to support the Production Team. You will be creating CAD drawings, art working, proposals, pitch work and design costing. You will also be project managing smaller projects from brief through to delivery, ensuring successful realisation of projects adopting a hands-on approach to working in the production workshop.
 
Other duties for the Technical Production Assistant include:
  • Design interpretation, creating mood boards if required and basic visualisations
  • Performing practical tasks in the workshop such as prop making, finishing, vinyling, painting, sewing and basic carpentry
  • Creating CNC files and supervising CNC machining when required 
  • Assisting with the creation of content for social media posts and stories 
  • Assisting with the recruitment of new subcontractors, updating availability / task sheets and bookings
  • Liaising with suppliers  
 
Skills and experience needed for the Technical Production Assistant:
  • Experience of using a CAD software package, CNC and Adobe Illustrator
  • Good administration and project management skills
  • Able to demonstrate a hands-on approach at all times 
  • A team worker, highly organised and flexible in their approach
  • An understanding of the fast paced, ever-changing demands of high-end brands and clients 
  • Be health and safety compliant at all times 
  • Positive, sociable and adaptable

This creative Design & Build consultancy works within the food & beverage, hospitality and leisure industry. The services they provide include interior design and brand development, catering equipment design, build and interior fit out, equipment supply and installation and project management.
 
Due to a sustained increase in workload, they are currently seeking an enthusiastic Interior Designer to join their team. The role will be varied and will involve working throughout all project stages from concept to completion alongside the design and project delivery team. The role is full time / permanent and will be primarily office based, however they operate a hybrid working system and the role will also involve attending site visits throughout the UK.
 
Working as part of a team you will be responsible for generating concept proposals, creating presentation documents, concept visuals, developing FF&E specifications and sample boards, producing drawing packages for tender and construction and providing design support from concept to completion.
 
 
Experience and skills sought for the Interior Designer:
  • At least 3 years' commercial interior design experience 
  • Creative with excellent technical awareness
  • An understanding of the food service /commercial catering environment would be an advantage
  • You should be confident meeting with both clients and contractors
  • Fluent in VectorWorks / AutoCAD, SketchUp and the Adobe CS
  • A good understanding of statutory approvals (building regulations, planning & CDM2015) would be an advantage
Working hours are 37.5 Hours per week, with 20 days annual leave increasing for each year of service to 25days. In addition to a competitive salary there is private healthcare, pension and a discretionary bonus depending on performance.

The Project Manager will also:
  • Ensure client satisfaction, handing over each project on time and without complaint
  • Take dimensions on site when needed
  • Hand over MEP drawings and ensure the proper execution of them
  • Carry our regular inspections on site
  • Work closely with Sales Designers and the General Manager to plan the works
  • Help coordinate delivery of materials
  • Plan and prepare installation schedules in advance and assign tasks to the installers
  • Attend site management meetings and weekly sales meetings
  • Resolve problems and implement improvements
 
Skills and experience sought for the Project Manager:
 
  • Knowledge and experience within the kitchen industry
  • Excellent customer service and project management skills
  • Must be able to effectively liaise with and manage trades, the installation team and customers
  • Able to maintain a high level of quality 
  • A team worker, highly organised, flexible and IT competent
 
Your monthly renumeration will be made up of a salary (tax free), rent allowance, medical insurance, transportation, life assurance, company mobile phone and fuel allowance. There is also an annual return ticket back to the UK and accommodation provided initially when you arrive until you can arrange your own. The company will also process the successful candidate's work permit.

You will be developing products from concept through to approval in accordance with relevant regulations and standards suitable for this territory. This will involve working with the Product Engineering Manager to ensure products are engineered to meet their sustainability principles, supporting the team, working within the given timelines needed to meet customer expectations and seasonal launches. They are open to considering either a junior or a mid-weight design engineer.

Product Design Engineer requirements:
  • 1+ years' experience working as a Product Design Engineer.
  • Ability to produce engineering drawings to IEC standards.
  • Knowledge and experience of various manufacturing processes suitable for mass production.
  • SolidWorks literate.
  • Knowledge and basic understanding of Adobe Illustrator for instructions and illustrations.
  • Able and comfortable with taking ownership of projects assigned.
