Our client is based close to the Dorset / Somerset border and designs, manufactures and installs bespoke fitted interiors for the high-end residential market. With the benefits of being part of a larger group of companies, they work with architects, interior designers, project managers, quantity surveyors and private clients.

They are currently recruiting for a Furniture Design Technician who is able to demonstrate that they can competently work within the high-end residential market as this role needs accurate detail drawings incorporating design for manufacture.

You will be preparing each element of the project for manufacture, producing layouts, technical and production drawings and 3D renders. The role may involve trips to sites for site surveys and will involve liaising with internal members of the company. There are really good career prospects available and the company has an excellent approach to work and their staff.

Person / Experience Required for the Furniture Design Technician role:

  • A clear understanding of design for manufacture
  • A working knowledge of Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Competent using AutoCAD
  • Good communication skills
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in joinery, cabinet making, shopfitting or boatbuilding

Description/Typical Responsibilities for the Bathroom Designer:

This role requires you to deliver both CAD design and varied creative marketing, including overseeing websites and social media and general administrative support. You will be front-of-house, dealing with clients and suppliers on a regular basis and taking customer enquiries, therefore excellent communication skills and an outgoing bubbly personality are essential.

Skills Required for the Bathroom Designer:

  • Good knowledge and experience of Photoshop or similar
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD and/or Virtual Worlds 3D interior design software
  • Experience (medium to expert) of all Microsoft Office packages
  • Excellent administrative skills with accuracy and attention to detail
  • Well spoken, smart and professional appearance
  • Good all-rounder, hands-on person
  • Ability to work on own initiative
  • Minimum of five GSCEs (A to C grades including Maths and English) plus the ability to demonstrate excellent English and Maths skills
  • No experience necessary if a graduate

This British Company manufactures beautiful bespoke furniture, cabinetry and specialist joinery work for a global network of clients. Their large purpose-built manufacturing complex is home to traditional cabinet making, veneering, carving and gilding skills, complemented by modern design, manufacturing and finishing techniques.

Projects include dressing rooms, staircases and libraries, cinemas, wine rooms and games rooms and they are currently looking for an experienced Furniture Technician to join this team. They are based in Norfolk but depending on your level of experience they are also open to remote working with occasional visits to the office.

The main responsibilities for the Furniture Technician will include to:

  • Develop the client brief into technical and production drawings and renders
  • Ensure the product is engineered and designed for manufacture and assembly is carried out
  • Ensure drawing accuracy and presentation meets the required standard
  • Ensure drawings are published on time and drawing approvals are pursued to program
  • Survey and template site work as required and undertake pre installation checks
  • Review works in progress and prior to delivery for quality and conformance to drawings

Skills and Experience sought for the Furniture Technician role:

  • Skilled in 3D CAD using SolidWorks
  • At least 4 years’ experience in a wood based environment - Joinery, shop fitting or cabinet making
  • CNC and or cabinet making experience would be beneficial
  • Good interpersonal skills to create effective working relationships
  • Precise and conscientious
  • Strong technical skills and attention to detail

This independent kitchen business has over 25 years' experience of British, German and Italian brands along with bespoke luxury handmade kitchens resulting in a fantastic and varied choice of kitchens for their customers.

Their clients range from private individuals to architects and building companies and their larger showroom in Berkshire often hosts cookery events, appliance demo’s and design seminars. Their showroom in Wiltshire is also home to their workshop.

They currently have opportunities for 3 additional Kitchen Designers (one for Reading, one for Swindon and one to work more flexibly between the two). Ongoing training will be provided although they are looking for experienced designers used to designing and selling kitchens within the £30k to £80k price bracket.

They use Fusion CAD software and Smart for quoting and have a team of CAD technicians, fitting / installation teams (who can carry out small building works), project managers and showroom administrators thus enabling their designers to concentrate on the customers and their projects.

Skills and experience needed for the Kitchen Designer role:

  • Strong and proven track record within kitchen design and sales
  • A natural flair for design, presentation and customer service
  • Understanding of the luxury marketplace
  • Good IT skills and CAD literate
  • A confident, enthusiastic and dynamic individual with a positive work ethic
  • Able to work to deadlines and targets
  • Full driving licence

On offer for the Kitchen Designer is a good basic salary plus a monthly bonus and a realistic OTE of £55k to £75k. Commission is paid on every kitchen sold and is uncapped.

The ideal candidate will be an experienced Joinery Fitter, have had experience working as a Bench Joiner and/or have experience producing Setting Out Drawings and creating Cutting Lists. You will need to be computer literate and familiar with CAD packages. Full training will be provided for the right candidate which may include a period of working alongside our current installers and bench joiners as required.

You will be expected to cost engineer company products, maintaining excellent quality whilst providing the best costings and efficiency for product manufacturing. A comprehensive understanding of materials and processes is therefore essential alongside being able to interpret production drawings.

You will need to have a good rapport with all stakeholders in the business, both in-house and externally with suppliers to maintain and develop good working relationships. You will also have an eye for optimum costings and be able to form an efficient database administration.

 Skill and experience needed for this role

Our client is a small family run Bespoke Kitchen Design Business that pride themselves in their attention to detail and quality of their work making the kitchen the multi-tasking hub of the home.

Looking at the growth of the business and a busy order book they are now seeking a Designer to work alongside the Principal Designer and Director. This will primarily involve: producing 3D renders for client presentations along with arranging samples and sourcing materials; producing 2D technical drawings for manufacturing; placing orders; arranging appointments and communicating with clients.

Skills and Experience needed for the Technical Kitchen Designer:

  • You will have a keen eye for design and an interest in kitchens and fitted furniture
  • 1-2 years of experience within a kitchen or joinery design company (UK-based)
  • A degree in Interior Architecture, Product Design or Interior Design is also preferred, but really strong CAD skills and a diligent worker is key
  • Conversant with AutoCAD and familiarity with Virtual Worlds or SketchUp an advantage
  • Very good written and spoken English

Hours: 9am-5:30pm (1hr lunch). Salary is £20k - £25k (negotiable) and they are open to the Technical Kitchen Designer working either a 4 or 5 day week.

This company is a specialist in the interior architecture of historical and period properties and work directly with their clients who come to them for their expertise and beautiful pieces of furniture, joinery and workmanship.

With a busy order book they are currently recruiting for an experienced and technically minded Furniture Designer who, as their Project Designer,  can produce detailed furniture drawings, 2D CAD layouts, 3D elevations and drawings. The role will be starting from taking the initial agreed conceptual design and sketch through building the projects on AutoCAD incorporating different materials and integrated appliances, lisaising with artisans for special crafted pieces through to working with the production engineers and workshop to installation.

You could be working on anything from panelling, architraves and flooring to libraries, bootrooms, scullerys, laundries and kitchens.

Skills and Experience needed for the Furniture Designer:

  • AutoCAD experience and ideally 3D using Inventor or SolidWorks
  • Cabinet Maker's or Joiner's background with a good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, materials selection and presentation
  • Experience already gained in industry as a furniture designer on fitted furniture and/or architectural joinery
  • Able to work from sketches and specification sheets and to interpret technical requirements and design briefs
  • Experience of Interior measured surveying is desirable
  • A good knowledge of timber, joinery, wood veneers, finishes and finishing techniques
  • A good understanding of furniture and period joinery detailing, with knowledge of period architectural styles and building techniques an advantage
  • Knowledge of quality kitchen appliances and sanitary ware
