We are a leading German Kitchen Supplier to both the London and Surrey areas and are looking for an enthusiastic designer to join the team at our Flagship Surbiton Branch. The candidate must live within a 10 mile radius of the showroom with a full driving licence as site visits are an integral part of our work. Use of their own vehicle however, although preferred, is not essential.

The candidate should have experience in designing kitchens using a CAD software package and ideally will have worked with a German kitchen manufacturer either currently or previously. You will be knowledgeable about a variety of worksurfaces, appliances and splashbacks and possess some interior design skills and flair as we are increasingly getting orders for living rooms, bedrooms and offices also.

This company is a specialist in the interior architecture of historical and period properties and work directly with their clients who come to them for their expertise and beautiful pieces of furniture, joinery and workmanship.

They are currently seeking an experienced and professional Production Engineer to be responsible for taking 2D design drawings and preparing manufacturing and purchasing drawings for the workshop, subcontract makers and fitters.

Responsibilities include:

  • Liaising with clients and design/production team regarding design issues
  • Production of cutting lists for the purchase of sheet material
  • Production of accurate shopping lists for the purchase of appliances
  • Production of site installation drawings detailing precise position of furniture within site boundaries
  • Provision of technical assistance to fitting teams during both assembly and installation
  • Contributing to the regular design team meetings, including participation and suggestions as to team improvement
  • Discussions with suppliers of timber and hardware to ensure that the correct materials are used to both fit the design brief and the cost bill

Person / Experience Required:

  • AutoCAD and Microsoft Office is needed, Woodwork for Inventor experience desirable
  • Cabinetmaking background and/or a good understanding of manufacturing and assembly processes, materials selection and presentation
  • Able to work from drawings and specification sheets and able to interpret technical requirements and design briefs
  • Experience of site surveying
  • Knowledge of period architectural styles, building techniques and mouldings would be an advantage
  • An understanding of mechanical and electrical services required to be connected to fitted furniture, kitchens, and bathrooms

This company is a leading manufacturer of high quality bespoke joinery offering total project management from initial site survey through to installation and are a fast growing company with a high level of repeat clients and new customers joining their portfolio continuously.

They are currently seeking a Technical Designer still at the early stages of their career to grow and develop within their team. You will be working with the technical design team taking concept designs and turning them into ready-to-manufacture technical drawings for the in-house joinery workshop. It involves working with a comprehensive range of materials and designs for high-end companies throughout the capital.

Objectives and requirements:

  • Producing complete and checked technical drawings using Solid Edge 3D design software
  • Manufacturing and pre-installation construction takes place in-house, so good communication is required between sales, project management, the design team, production and the joiners, to resolve any potential design and material issues
  • Take offs for CNC milling and other outsourced material production will also be required directly from the CAD drawings, so accuracy is vital
  • Liaising with joiners so at least some experience with manufacturing and furniture / joinery is needed
  • Participating in company and departmental discussions about improvements and innovation so a genuine interest in the marketplace and a keenness to take part would be expected

Competitive remuneration and 22 days' holiday minimum (increasing by 1 day every 2 years to a maximum of 25 days). Lunch is provided by the company and there is parking space on the premises.
